Ashley René Casey shared thisI took a few days away from LinkedIn this week. Not for a conference or a client. For my son. Monday, Langston competed at the Jimmy Awards in NYC, a musical theatre competion for high school students. Over 170k students compete across the country, 116 go to NYC for the next round, ending with 8 finalist. He was a finalist! To say I am proud is an understatement. His dedication to his craft is inspiring. He studies the world around him so he can deliver nuance in his performances and be earnest in his storytelling. He pushes himself to sing the tough notes, dance the challenging choreo, and give the best performance he can. He is passionate and committed. Congratulations to all of the Jimmy Awards participants. The feature highlights the artistry, innovation, and cultural impact of the Ocean of Soul Marching Band, Motion of the Ocean Majorette Dancers, Platinum Girls Baton Twirlers, and Ocean Waves Flag Line, with students receiving individual credit for their contributions throughout the publication. Published during Black Music Month and the print version hitting the stands on Juneteenth, the feature celebrates the enduring influence of Black musical traditions and the transformative role HBCUs continue to play in shaping culture around the world. The collaboration also represents an unprecedented moment in both higher education and media. Texas Southern University is the first university ever to receive a dedicated multi-page editorial feature of this scale in Vogue, marking a first-of-its-kind partnership that places an institution's students, culture, and artistic excellence at the center of one of the world's most influential publications. I play. 😎 Play is more than fun. 🤸🏽♀️ Play reduces cortisol, the stress hormone that wrecks our body when it's too high. 🤸🏽♀️ Play activates the default mode network in our brain, unlocking creativity and inviting our imagination to do its thing. 🤸🏽♀️ Play restores attention by reducing mental effort with unstructured, nobody-is-grading-you activity. Somewhere along the way, we stopped playing. We got older and allowed society to tell us we have to stay seated and serious. And we wonder why we're burned out, creatively blocked, and can't focus past 10am. We've lost the plot. Work is not the point — living is. Tell me, when was the last time you actually played? Ashley René Casey posted thisI think one of the biggest lies we have normalized is that being constantly distracted is just “part of life now.” Notifications during dinner. Scrolling while watching TV. Checking emails while talking to people we love. We are connected to everything and slowly disconnecting from ourselves at the same time. That realization is a huge part of why I created the mini-courses inside Presence Over Pixels. 🧠 Not to tell people to throw away their phones or shame anyone for being online, but to help people better understand: 💭 how attention is being pulled 📱 how platforms are designed 🤝 how connection is changing 🎯 and how to move through all of it more intentionally I teach this in workshops, but I wanted to create something people could access on their own time and actually sit with. Jess Wroughton he is in South Pacific at The MUNY, opening July 6th. August 7, 8, 9 he is in Rent, as Roger, at GCPA. My band plays 1860s on August 1. Busy summer. But, he leaves for Carnegie on August 14 so I am soaking it all in. 💜

Ashley René Casey liked thisAshley René Casey liked thisLately, I've found myself reflecting on the conversations I've been having from stage. Women's conferences. Leadership retreats. Banking organizations. Sorority summits. Water professionals. Different industries. Different people. Different challenges. And yet every room keeps coming back to the same thing. Trust. When I first started speaking, I didn't know this would become the heart of my work. I thought I was helping people become more confident leaders. What I've learned is that confidence is just the beginning. Because when we trust ourselves, we communicate differently. When teams trust one another, they collaborate differently. When organizations build trust intentionally, they navigate change differently. Trust changes everything. This quarter has been one I'll never forget. I had the opportunity to speak to more than 500 attendees, celebrate the launch of Your Confidence Comeback, and officially introduce my new brand centered around trust. What I'm most grateful for, though, isn't the milestones. It's the people. The event planners who trusted me with their audiences. The leaders who invited me into important conversations. The attendees who stayed afterward to share their stories, ask questions, and remind me why this work matters. Messages like... "My colleagues and I have been quoting your insights." "It was real, relevant, and engaging." "I have seen you speak before and still use many of your strategies today." Those are the moments I carry with me. Because my goal has never been to simply give a keynote. My goal is to create a conversation that continues long after people leave the room. To every organization that has trusted me this year—thank you. It is an incredible privilege, and I never take it for granted. And if you're planning an event for later this year and looking for a speaker who will challenge your audience, equip them with practical tools, and leave them thinking differently about leadership... For a long time, I thought I needed to have everything figured out before I could put myself out there. I wondered if my voice, my work, had any real value. I feared none of it would be good enough…the website, the message, the keynote, the reels. But the truth is, I was operating from the same beliefs I now help others overcome. My work has never been about perfection. It has always been about people. About helping someone reconnect with themselves. Trust themselves. Lead from a place that feels true instead of from pressure, fear, or exhaustion. This demo reel captures some of that journey, but it’s really just the beginning. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of speaking with leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, and women from so many different walks of life. No matter the title or industry, one thing keeps emerging: We’re craving a more human way to lead. One where success doesn’t come at the expense of ourselves. One where we don’t have to abandon who we are to be effective. One where the body isn’t something we push through, but something we learn to listen to. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has trusted me with their stories, invited me into their organizations, or simply sat with me for a conversation.
