Amber Julius reposted thisAmber Julius reposted thisTwice in my career, a manager told me I couldn’t do the job. On the first day of my first real job after college, my manager looked me in the eyes and said, “I don’t think you can do this job.” Years later, in a more senior role at a completely different company, I heard it again. Different manager. Same statement. Said with certainty—not cruel, just framed as a “realistic” assessment. To this day, I still can’t believe the audacity. Statements like that don’t just land in the moment. They linger. They shape how people see themselves. They influence what people go after and what they quietly decide isn’t for them. And often, those early assessments are wrong. Not because experience or judgment doesn’t matter, but because people are more than someone else’s snapshot opinion. One sentence can either limit someone—or fuel them. This Women’s History Month, I applaud all the women who were underestimated—and chose not to believe it. Who kept going. Who proved it wrong. Who built something anyway. And I’m thinking about the leaders who are part of that equation. Because every leader makes a choice: Limit people— or believe in them. One holds them back. The other helps them grow.

Amber Julius reposted thisAmber Julius reposted thisClapping for someone else shouldn’t feel like betrayal… …but insecurity makes it feel that way. Because it whispers: “If they win… I lose.” No. Supporting another person’s success will never steal yours. It only reveals your character. WHAT I’ve seen two rooms react to the same win. In one room… Someone got promoted. And the air got weird. Smiles got tight. Congrats got delayed. People suddenly became detectives of your flaws. 😅 In the other room… Someone won. And the whole team lifted. Real applause. Real celebration. Real support. And guess what? That team kept winning. SO WHAT Because success isn’t a limited pie. It’s a mindset. A candle doesn’t lose light by lighting another candle. The sun doesn’t dim because someone else shines. But jealousy? Jealousy turns teams into prisons. Celebration turns teams into ecosystems. NOW WHAT Practice this: congratulate fast give credit loudly share the opportunity, not just the spotlight recommend people in rooms they’re not in stop keeping score Because what you celebrate… grows. Takeaway If you can’t celebrate others, you’ll always fear their growth. Do you agree or disagree? Amber Julius reposted thisAmber Julius reposted thisWhen we think of rest, we think of sleep. But what about the other 6 types? (Your body needs ALL of them) Physical rest alone isn't enough to avoid burnout. If you sleep for 7+ hours, that's only 1/7 of your energy restored. Here are the 7 types of rest you NEED, and HOW to get them: 1. Physical Rest - PASSIVE physical rest like sleeping. Most adults don't get enough! - ACTIVE physical rest like yoga, stretching, a stroll in nature. 2. Mental Rest - Take short breaks at work to improve focus and efficiency by up to 40% - Spend 5-10 minutes meditating - Use night shift on your phone, or switch it off! - Keep a notepad and write down any nagging thoughts 3. Social Rest - Spend time alone to recharge, read a book for 15-40 minutes daily - Surround yourself with positive and supportive people - Take a solo walk during lunch breaks 4. Sensory Rest - Sit in a quiet room or at the bottom of the garden for 5-10 minutes - Close your eyes for a few minutes in the middle of the day - Play calming music in the background whilst you work 5. Spiritual Rest - Engage in something GREATER than yourself - Add meditation, prayer, or community involvement to your daily routine 6. Emotional Rest - Have the courage to be authentic - Have time and space to express your feelings - Say NO more than you say YES - Stop people-pleasing 7. Creative Rest - Take in the beauty of the outdoors - Read a book, or watch a good movie - Declutter your workspace This might be the reminder you need this Sunday... Rest is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. Do you agree? Let me know below ⬇ ♻️ Repost this to your network to help others prevent burnout with rest And follow Rob Dance for more LinkedIn content like this!

Amber Julius reposted thisAmber Julius reposted thisIf your colleagues aren't used to defining the goal or outcome of an idea, project, or problem they want researched, give them this formula to fill out: I need [𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧] to understand [𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥] to make [𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧] that will impact [𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦/𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥]. Then, by the end of the study/workshop, I need [𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞]. When we understand needs and goals like this, we can ensure—as researchers—that the information we look for and receive during a project will align with stakeholder needs. If colleagues still can't share goals, needs, and outcomes with this formula, ask to postpone the study so they can think about it for longer. The last thing you want to do is conduct research or a workshop with no aim.

People in the ICU are now using VR technology to do exercises in bed. It’s like they’re taking a short vacation from the hospital it’s still really important to help these patients walk and move around. One more good use case of #virtualreality

Amber Julius liked thisAmber Julius liked thisSerendipity week started with the "Magical Dinner" on Tuesday, May 19th. This dinner was truly Magical because of the people who were there. This was for all of the main sponsors for The Taste of Serendipity, new out of state Members, and my Advisory Board. I hosted this at my home and prayed for great weather. It ended up being PERFECT weather and a perfect night! Justin Jose took AMAZING pics here at the dinner and throughout Serendipity Week! If I did not have Lauren Backe, as my righthand person, this would not have gone nearly as good as it did. I ordered amazing food from two of my favorite place, Zarella and FARE. So having, Kasia Bednarz, the CEO of FARE there was perfect. We laughed A LOT during this dinner. This was not just people from Chicago. It was Orion3 Members from Austin, Houston, Los Angles, Fort Lauderdale, Naples, and Mexico City! I loved everything about this night and it was the best way to start Serendipity Week, because the day after was "The Taste of Serendipity." The pics from ToS will start to get posted tomorrow. Thank YOU to everyone who was there for this Magical Dinner. A special thank YOU to my close friend and Advisory Board Member, Amanda Lannert, for coming down early to help set up, even though she had to catch a very early flight the next day. Love you my friend. A lot more pics from Serendipity Week will be posted in the next few days. #Orion3 #CreatingConsciousSerendipity #MINTAKA

Amber Julius liked thisAmber Julius liked thisWe’re proud to highlight AAA member Thurka Sangaramoorthy, whose recent article in The Washington Post makes a powerful case for the value of anthropology in today’s world—a skill she first honed as part of our inaugural OpEd Project class back in 2019. Drawing from her own journey, she shows how anthropology equips us to translate human experience into insight that institutions can actually act on and why that skill matters now more than ever. A must-read for anyone thinking about the future of the discipline and its impact beyond academia. 🔗 Read the full article at https://wapo.st/3QP0X1q

Amber Julius liked thisAmber Julius liked thisThe legal industry doesn’t stand still. New regulations. New technology. New practice models. And every firm does things a little differently. That’s why one of the most valuable skills in law isn’t just experience, it’s adaptability. Being open to learn, unlearn, and relearn matters more than ever. What worked at one firm may not work at the next. What made you successful five years ago might need to evolve. Processes change. Expectations shift. The market moves. The professionals who thrive are the ones who stay curious, flexible, and open-minded. Not rigid. Not stuck in “this is how it’s always been done.” In today’s legal market, your willingness to learn, and relearn, can be just as important as what you already know.

Amber Julius liked thisAmber Julius liked thisMost companies don’t realize this until their Admin Assistant quits: The calendar wasn’t running itself. The office culture wasn’t “just happening.” The onboarding wasn’t magically organized. The executives weren’t naturally prepared. An exceptional Administrative Assistant is often: • Operations support • Internal communications • HR triage • Event coordination • Client relations • Executive protection • Therapist • Crisis manager • Process improvement specialist …all while being called “just admin.” The truth? A strong admin can cover for weak leadership longer than weak leadership deserves. And when they finally burn out, the entire company suddenly discovers how much institutional knowledge was being held together by one person making $58k a year. Companies love to say people are their greatest asset. But watch how quickly they overlook the people quietly holding the infrastructure together. Administrative professionals deserve: Better pay. Clear advancement paths. Strategic involvement. Actual respect. Not cupcakes during Administrative Professionals Day. What’s something people outside admin work completely underestimate about the role? #admin #adminassistants

Amber Julius liked thisAmber Julius liked thisSometimes, the best hire isn’t the most experienced person in the room, but the one who’s eager to learn, willing to listen, and ready to grow. Skills can be taught. Character, work ethic, and attitude? Those are gold. If you’re in a position to hire, mentor, or lead don’t overlook potential just because it doesn’t come wrapped in years of experience. Give people a chance. You might just discover your most loyal, driven team member yet.
