DNV…When Trust Matters www.dnv.comMauricio Arce shared thisEvery so often, an event occurs that divides time into “before” and “after.” DOE’s new proposal to FERC on accelerated interconnection for large flexible loads feels like one of those moments for the US power sector. DOE is invoking its authority under Section 403 of the DOE Organization Act to direct FERC to open a rulemaking, potentially redefining the federal-state boundary on large load interconnection. Perhaps the most significant development is how DOE proposes large, flexible loads be studied on an expedited track – potentially within 60 days – if they agree to be curtailable or dispatchable. It also urges consideration of load and generation together wherever practicable. Well, he has committed to giving away 99% of his wealth when he dies. So it’s within his soul to save all these people from paying them off and figuring out a way to move them into different roles, upskill them, etc. But maybe that’s a stretch. I only suggest that because there are business owners that do keep figure out ways to keep their employees…and still figure out how to make money for them. I guess it’s easier at the top to lay off people when you don’t sit next to them and understand the true impact of a decision that is all about money (even more so when you make that level of net) when you claim people are the ones that created it in the first place (as his so credits those very people he’s laid off). At what point do people matter when you make that kind of profit?

He’s making it very difficult for me to be confused.🙄 Kudos for Zucker for taking accountability for disrupting so many lives at Microsoft (oops, I meant Meta) whilst making so much net profit YoY. It’s a wonder why he’s not wealthier. I feel for his sadness towards those unfortunate people laid off.
Note to others: Don’t apply to companies that feel so bad about laying off so many people when they make so many BILLIONS of dollars in net profit.

Mauricio Arce liked thisMauricio Arce liked thisNews flash: A parasite called cyclospora is now spreading across 31 states (!!!!!!). Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed 843 cases, and the true count is likely closer to 5,000. Yuppppp. Michigan alone has 1,562 confirmed cases, so 31X the state's normal annual total. Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that spreads through fecal-oral contamination of food and water. Symptoms: watery diarrhea, abdominal cramping, weeks of exhaustion, weight loss, and re-infection cycles that can last months. Foods historically linked: cilantro, basil, raspberries, mesclun greens, snow peas. The source of the current outbreak is still unidentified. Here is what most people are NOT BEING TOLD. In July 2025, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) scaled back FoodNet, its primary foodborne illness surveillance system, and made cyclospora monitoring voluntary. The federal government cannot find the source because it stopped watching. And, STANDARD STOOL TESTS MISS CYCLOSPORA. Your doctor has to specifically request modified acid-fast staining or PCR, which most doctors won't do. If you have had persistent watery diarrhea and were told your tests came back clean, you have not been tested for this. Here is the terrain reframe. Parasites are NOT fringe wellness content. Most of my clients pass parasites (!!!). They are real, they are common, and they are showing up in the food supply of every developed country. The question is not whether you have been exposed. It is whether your terrain can defend against what you are exposed to. A functioning gut microbiome, adequate stomach acid, healthy bile flow, open drainage pathways, and an intact mucosal barrier are your actual defense system. The wellness industry has been selling you gut supplements for years, while the surveillance systems that detect what is actually in your food have been quietly dismantled. None of the supplements protect you from what your terrain cannot handle on its own. Support your terrain. Wash your produce thoroughly. Cook what you can. And, if you have unresolved gut symptoms that no one has explained, ask about cyclospora specifically, as well as other parasites + pathogens.

I was ready to dive into transmission constraints, interconnection queues, and permitting reform. Instead, he kept steering the conversation back to what it’s like to be a working parent in a midsize Oregon town. He was making a point: energy policy isn’t theoretical. It’s about reliability, affordability, and the future our kids will inherit. As a current expat, new immigrant, but lifelong Oregonian, I am proud of the bill he introduced last month. The Renewable Energy Choice Act directly targets one of the biggest structural barriers in the U.S. energy transition: fragmented local permitting processes that delay or block renewable projects. By establishing clear federal standards and support for local jurisdictions, it accelerates deployment, reduces soft costs, and strengthens grid resilience nationwide. For affordability, our economy, and our future climate, this is the kind of progress we want to see! Mauricio Arce liked thisMauricio Arce liked thisLDES Commercialization: The Path to Bankability and Financing Over the last 5 years, LDES has moved from demonstration projects to commercial deployments, securing utility and hyperscaler customers along the way. However, the financing environment remains challenging with very few projects able to obtain project finance (so far) thereby constraining mass deployment of LDES. I had the honor of crafting and moderating a panel on LDES bankability as a path to project finance at the Fastmarkets Battery & Energy Storage Summit recently. The panel brought together LDES commercialization visionaries including Thomas Sisto of XL Batteries, Katlyn Meggers of Peak Energy and Sandra Holt of AES. Thanks for the insightful, cordial and constructive discussion on the manifestation, impact and mitigation of 3 major classes of project risks: technology, revenue and construction. An especially useful nugget that came up is the major role played by partnerships among LDES ecosystem participants (OEMs, developers and service providers) in transitioning from the early to mainstream market. Risk assurance and risk transfer services team up with deployment maturity helping create a whole product for the mainstream market. Thanks to Hannah Burke-Tomlinson and Emma McGarthy for the opportunity and collaboration as panel came together. Always grateful to DNV for the support and guidance!
