The biggest question on the minds of the marketers I work with today is "How must we change our approach to win in the AI world?" And that question only brings more questions: "What does it take for my brand/product to be visible when LLMs have changed the rules for how and where consideration is shaped?" The thing I love most about LinkedIn is that it is a professional community fueled by generosity -- we help each other be more productive and successful. We are all learning how AI search is changing the way people and professionals get solutions and discover opportunities in real time. LinkedIn has been learning fast, to become the most authoritative source for professional queries. In the past three months, LinkedIn has risen from outside the top 20 to rank among the most‑cited sources on ChatGPT — and is now the #1 most‑cited domain for professional queries across all AI Search platforms. Profound, a partner to marketers to help them understand how their brands show up in AI search, shares some valuable takeaways in their March 9 report. Here are a few highlights (full report below): * The most notable shift over the past three months is in posts, long-form articles, and newsletters — content created by individuals, companies and publishers on the platform — which together now account for approximately 35% of all LinkedIn citations within ChatGPT responses – up from roughly 27% three months ago. * This pattern suggests that AI Search engines are finding and weighting more of LinkedIn's published content layer over time. Here's why it's significant: Everyone with a LinkedIn presence is now a potential citation source. People can grow their reach and credibility just by showing up on LinkedIn. Answer Engines discover and attribute LinkedIn posts, articles and newsletters back to the people who created them, meaning your ideas, expertise and even your small business can be found through the strength of LinkedIn’s domain authority. * Companies, too, can grow their brands with AI search mentions and citations by investing in content on LinkedIn, rather than having to build a presence externally. Everything from your SDR’s morning take to your CEO’s quarterly reflection to your PM’s product update becomes part of how your brand shows up in AI Search. * The timing matters too. By doubling in domain rank and shifting citation weight toward new content, LinkedIn has opened a door to AI visibility that didn't exist three months ago, and right now, that door is largely uncrowded. Most brands haven't adjusted their strategy to account for it yet. The ones that do early will build a compounding advantage as Answer Engines continue to treat LinkedIn as a trusted, go-to source. I've been to my share of industry events, it's always great to catch up with peers and partners. But last night, the American Advertising Federation's Hall of Achievement was extra fun and meaningful. As a member of the panel of judges, I already felt invested in the remarkable stories of these eight inductees in the Class of 2025. Seeing each of them accept their honors with heartfelt, generous, and funny speeches, and celebrating with Paolo, our own LinkedIn winner and his family, and Abi, who I've been close to since she began her career in advertising, made it personal.
