Andrew Tener reposted thisAndrew Tener reposted thisNine months ago we launched Outpost Gate Automation. Since then, every customer pilot has converted to expansion. We've signed nearly 50 new locations in the first four months of this year. And our platform now processes more than 3 million gate events annually, roughly triple where we were at launch. Today we're releasing the second generation of our platform with a completely redesigned kiosk and significant upgrades to our hardware, computer vision capabilities, and tools for facility operations teams. 🔧 The kiosk deploys in as little as one day. It ships pre-assembled in two pieces, bolts into place, and auto-connects to our cloud. 🔊 It includes engine-canceling microphones that isolate a driver's voice over a running diesel engine, dual integrated touchscreens with real-time transcription and on-site navigation, and a dedicated driver's license scanner with fraud detection. 🔍 Our computer vision now includes reefer monitor recognition, multi-camera vehicle tracking, and expanded seal, lock, and latch verification. 🖥️ A new pooled staffing model lets remote operations teams share workloads across facilities, and a detailed event timeline provides a full audit trail for every gate transaction. We built Outpost Gate Automation for companies that still rely on guards to stand at the gate in all weather conditions at all hours, walking among heavy equipment and handling every vehicle interaction. That traditional model is expensive, inefficient, and puts both the guard and facility at risk. If your operation still runs trucks through a staffed gate, we can help.

Andrew Tener reposted thisAndrew Tener reposted this🚛 Closed: 28-Acre Industrial Outdoor Storage Property in Houston 🚛 Outpost just closed on 28 acres at 6750 Bender Rd in Humble, TX, our third Houston property and our largest in the market to date. The site sits adjacent to George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), with direct access to I-69 and Beltway 8, two of Houston’s most important freight arteries. Houston is one of the country's most important logistics markets, with more than 6,000 carriers headquartered within 30 miles. Yet there are no other sites of comparable yard size in the IAH airport submarket. The property is more than three-quarters leased at closing to a mix of in-place industrial tenants. Currently vacant acreage and capacity rolling over the next 12 months will be added to Outpost's IOS and truck terminal network, a meaningful addition given that our two existing Houston terminals are 100% occupied with a waitlist. The site features: 🚚 480 truck parking stalls on a concrete, asphalt, and gravel base 🏢 61,000 SF across six structures with 32' eaves and 3-phase / 480V / 800A heavy power 🏗️ Crane-served bays: one 25-ton (22' hook), one 10-ton, one 5-ton 🔒 Fenced, gated, and lit with two ingress/egress points 🛤️ Adjacent to an active Union Pacific rail line Leasing of the vacant acreage is already underway and the property is expected to fill quickly. Andrew Tener reposted thisAndrew Tener reposted thisOutpost’s Las Vegas truck terminal is officially open with a paved 9-acre drop yard and 54,000 square feet of office and warehouse space in one of the country’s fastest-growing freight markets. A year ago, this property housed a specialized industrial facility that wasn’t suited for modern freight operations, but its location was ideal for fleets serving the Southwest corridor between the Inland Empire and Mountain West. So we gutted the site and existing structures, and rebuilt it from the dirt up as a purpose-built truck terminal. This project is a great example of what our in-house development team can do. In addition to acquiring turnkey Industrial Outdoor Storage (IOS), we have the expertise to navigate zoning and entitlements, secure permits, and execute ground-up redevelopment. Keeping this in-house gives us control over the timeline and build quality, allowing us to convert complex industrial sites into critical logistics infrastructure. We're already in lease negotiations with large fleets and expect the property to fill quickly. For inquiries, reach out to Patrick Hardin (hardin@outpost.us). Andrew Tener reposted thisAndrew Tener reposted thisEvery other mode of freight has universal infrastructure. Rail has intermodal hubs. Ocean has ports. Air has airports. Trucking moves 75% of the goods in the American economy and has none of it. We started Outpost to build infrastructure that serves carriers today and in the future. Today we’re adding five new terminals to our network, including our first in the northeast corridor, and announcing our investment in EV Realty to bring commercial fleet charging infrastructure to our network. We’re four years into building this and the thesis keeps compounding. Every terminal we add gives carriers access to another market without the capital burden of building their own. Konstantin Shaposhnykov at Orozco Trucking describes exactly how his team uses our network: win a contract, call Outpost, and get capacity in the market. https://lnkd.in/gjjJrSs7

Andrew Tener reposted thisAndrew Tener reposted thisOutpost has secured a $300 million credit facility from Realterm to accelerate the buildout of our nationwide terminal network. While ocean freight has ports, intermodal has rail yards, and air freight has airports, trucking has no unified infrastructure to power the flow of goods across the country. Outpost is changing that. Today, 90% of the US population is within a 12-hour drive of an Outpost terminal. In the next year, we'll compress that to 6 hours, embedding Outpost into the daily operating radius of enterprise fleets across the country. This facility fuels the next phase of that expansion. Thank you to the Realterm team and everyone at Outpost and GreenPoint Partners as we continue building the backbone of freight. #TruckTerminals #LogisticsRealEstate #IndustrialOutdoorStorage #IOS

It’s less than 9 miles from PortMiami, offering direct access to the Palmetto Expressway (SR-826), the Dolphin Expressway (SR-836), and Doral Boulevard (SR-948). Andrew Tener reposted thisAndrew Tener reposted this$1B to Build the Backbone of Freight. Today we’re excited to announce that Outpost and GreenPoint Partners have raised fresh capital and doubled the scale of our truck terminal platform to $1 billion. This milestone enables us to accelerate our acquisition of terminals and industrial outdoor storage nationwide, helping fleets scale into critical freight markets without the capital burden of owning and developing real estate. In just the past six months, we’ve acquired new terminals in Las Vegas, Portland (Oregon), Dallas-Fort Worth, and two properties in California’s Inland Empire. Our network now spans 25+ facilities totaling 400+ acres, serving more than 3,000 carriers and shippers. We also recently launched Outpost Gate Automation, a technology platform that helps terminal operators cut costs while improving yard security and throughput. By vertically integrating real estate, operations, and technology, we’re building the first nationwide, carrier-agnostic terminal network that gives trucking the type of shared infrastructure and connectivity airports provide to airlines. Thank you to every member of our team, to our customers and partners for your trust and partnership, and to our investors for your belief in our vision and ongoing support. We’re just getting started.

Andrew Tener liked thisAndrew Tener liked thisAt Netflix, we bet 100 million dollars on House of Cards before a single frame was shot. Everyone called it a gamble. It was actually something else. This came up when I sat down with Michael Bungay Stanier, the author of The Coaching Habit, on the podcast this week. We were talking about what makes a great decision, and I told him the story I keep coming back to. The bet was two seasons of House of Cards. At the time, 100 million dollars was an enormous amount of money for us. It wasn’t Reed Hastings’ call. It was Ted Sarandos, our chief content officer then, our co-CEO now. Licensing was getting more expensive every year, because we had shown the whole industry that streaming was possible. So owning our own content stopped being a luxury and became a strategic advantage. Did Ted know it would work? No. What he had was a clear read on the conditions, an opportunity that wouldn’t wait, and the courage to move before the data could prove him right. Here is the part Michael pushed on, and he was right to. → Ted almost certainly had data that could have killed the idea too. → Data isn’t neutral. It’s political. You can assemble a case for almost any decision you already want to make. → The skill isn’t finding the data. It’s the judgment to know which bet is worth making. That call set Netflix on the path to becoming the largest entertainment company in the world. But we made plenty of bets that didn’t pay off. We didn’t call those failures. We called them learning. The leaders who scaled weren’t the ones with the biggest teams or the cleanest spreadsheets. They were the ones who could make a good call with incomplete information, and own it either way. Our dedicated passenger lounge creates a convenient space for Air Canada passengers to start their journey, saving time and money along the way. It's been an exciting summer for The Landline Company - we've doubled in size in just the last 8 weeks. We're focused on building new cost effective, immediate infrastructure solutions for the biggest North American gateways and that mission is resonating with decision makers across the industry. A huge thank you to the Landline team and our incredible partners at Air Canada for bringing this innovative concept to life in record time. I can't wait to see where we grow together next. Andrew Tener liked thisAndrew Tener liked thisOnce you see that em dash (—) in a post or comment you immediately think "it's AI generated". There has been a plethora of ungrounded commentary on the origins and why we keep seeing them. In a simple query where I asked an LLM about the history of quantum mechanics the first "—" was already present in the first line. As the LLM proceeded to narrate the history there were in total more than 20 em dashes per 1,000 words. That is well over 20x what people write in their own content, be it articles, posts, commentary, tweets, and more. After a deep dive on how models are actually trained (using models where the entire training pipeline is open) the em dash is actually a passage of bias between models, like a virus. It spreads from one model to another through preference tuning and synthetic training data. So the annoying prevalence of em dashes in models is real, but with this finding a more serious question comes up: What other hidden forms of bias pass from one model to another that escapes unnoticed? What biases are we being exposed to without knowing it? A fast-growing scam is using fake trailer rental ads, usually starting with a simple Facebook post, to trick owner-operators into wiring money through Cash App and driving off with trailers that already belong to someone else, leaving the victim out their cash and potentially in possession of stolen equipment. Over the last couple weeks, I've worked with Sarah Bradbury, VP & General Counsel for Premier Trailer Leasing to better understand this novel fraud vector impacting trailer rentals. As I dug deeper, I was astonished to learn just how pervasive it has become. If you want to feel better, this book is for you. Unlike other books which promise five things you should do to feel great or be successful, How To Feel Better directly addresses your emotions, why you have them, and how to improve them.
Our emotions shape our lives. We constantly strive to do things that make us feel good. But trying to shape our external circumstances to change how we feel is indirect. To really feel better, you must look inside. You must have a dialogue with your emotions and come to understand them. Feeling great is within your reach if you are willing to examine your emotions.
How To Feel Better will show you what your emotions really are. You will be able to understand and let go of the emotions holding you back.
The book's power comes from four simple, but surprising, insights:
1. Your emotions are not always in line with reality.
2. Emotions can change. You can learn how to change your emotions.
3. You have emotions all the time, but you might not notice them.
4. By changing the emotions you have all the time, you can feel better every moment of every day.
How To Feel Better walks you through these insights, building a conceptual understanding of emotions. From there, the book teaches you techniques to resolve painful emotions. These techniques can be applied proactively to achieve goals and improve your mood.
The book is supplemented with videos and worksheets on the author's website, AndrewTener.com

Emerging VCs: The "Shrinking Manager" Myth is Total BS, Here's Why It's Prime Time to Jump In Just tuned into that fire TechCrunch podcast with Adeo Ressi and Sarah Lacy calling out the doom-and-gloom narrative on emerging managers. As a Venture Institute participant hustling to build my first fund, this episode lit a spark—it's not shrinking; it's evolving, and small funds are winning big. Key takeaways that reshaped my sourcing game: ▪️ Micro-Fund Renaissance: With VC Lab launching 800+ funds at $12M average (mostly oversubscribed), small checks are killing it in over-subscribed rounds. No more gatekeeping—focus on adding real value beyond cash. ▪️ Diverse Networks Unlock LPs: Sarah's point on tapping untapped pools through inclusive teams? Gold. If we're hitting 50/50 gender parity, imagine the edge in niches like AI-driven defense or sustainable ag. ▪️ Barriers for Track Record Pros: Even unicorn angels get locked out of old-school VC—proves why solopreneurs like me need to lean into warm intros and high-leverage moves over endless admin. This vibes with my pipeline shift: Ditching cold spam for targeted events and X searches in LA ecosystems. If emerging managers are outperforming, 2025's our year to bet on outliers in cyber threats or climate-smart foodtech. Emerging VCs or founders—what's one myth you're busting in your hustle? Drop it below, let's swap stories and tactics.
