The story chronicles Wright's journey from being a designer to becoming a global fashion activist. He shares personal stories of co-launching his brand, "Humanize My Hoodie," and the impact of designing clothing that sparks important conversations about racial and social justice.
André discusses how he uses fashion as a medium for activism, drawing attention to the struggles faced by Black and marginalized communities. The book touches on his experiences staging fashion shows, collaborating with artists, and educating through workshops, providing readers with insight into how fashion can be used as a tool for empowerment and advocacy.
Throughout the book, André emphasizes the importance of community, representation, and disrupting traditional narratives within the fashion industry. His vision for a more inclusive future, where underrepresented designers can have a platform, is the throughline of the narrative. Andre encourages the audience to dream big, use their creativity for social good, and challenge the status quo in their own industries.
Finally, part memoir and part workshop the book offers practical advice for aspiring designers, with tips on building a brand, staying true to one's values, and the power of perseverance, making it both a personal memoir and a guide for professors and those who want to follow a similar path of creativity, activism, and disruption.
