Our mission is to empower builders–engineers, founders, and more–at every stage to do their best work. Here’s a taste of what we’ve achieved as a community: • 4 teams we've directly supported have gone through Y Combinator; others are building at GC, Telora, Neo, and Contrary. • Organized the largest student startup fair at Michigan, connecting 300+ engineers and designers with 15+ high-growth startups. • Hosted 10+ campus-wide events featuring founders and VCs – most recently we hosted 3 YC partners for 350+ attendees. We believe this work matters because by taking bets on smart people early, they learn to bet on themselves and make good new things. This wasn’t just an event. It was a glimpse of what’s possible when you spark startup curiosity and give builders the space to become founders — by putting them in the right room, sharing the right stories, and surrounding them with the right community And this is just the beginning. we’re building something bigger — a place where the next generation of founders connect, and build together. Pinecone, BoxGroup, and OpenYield — each sharing unique insights on everything from vector search innovations and early-stage investing to fresh takes on bond trading. In the afternoon, our journey continued as we visited Clay and saw how their platform is revolutionizing go-to-market strategies with improved data sources and AI research agents. We then visited Posh, where we learned how their platform reimagines the connection between event producers and attendees! We ended the day at Shade Inc., a company founded by V1 @ Michigan’s very own alums. Hearing how they went from building in the University of Michigan’s library basement to becoming a seed-funded startup wasn’t just inspiring — it was a powerful reminder that some of the best ideas can come from the most unexpected places. Anay Modi liked thisAnay Modi liked thisWastewater infrastructure hasn't changed in 30 years. My cofounder David Wang grandfather unfortunately passed away from lead poisoning because a community's wastewater system failed and nobody caught it in time. That's what got us into water. We dove into the research side first: IEEE NANO, Stockholm Junior Water Prize, NCSEF, first high schoolers with funded SEM access at NC State. We thought our research would get us to the ultimate solution. But the bottleneck was never chemistry. It was the infrastructure underneath these facilities. Operators today are juggling 40,000 SCADA tags across systems that don't talk to each other, spending weeks every month reconciling data manually just to stay compliant. And the veterans who know how to run these plants are retiring, taking decades of institutional knowledge with them. When we toured the City of Palo Alto's plant, they walked us through disconnected software, manual data reconciliation, and real fear about where the industry is headed. We left everything else on the table. Effluent is what this industry has been waiting for. The real vision isn't a better dashboard. It's facilities that run on AI models trained on years of real operational data, eventually automated from the ground up in ways that weren't possible before. We are building models for anomaly prediction, compliance forecasting, chemical dosing optimization, energy load balancing, and biological process inference. This is only the beginning to change how water treatment is innovated. 28 million Americans were served by water systems with documented lead violations in a recent three-year period alone. It's what happens when infrastructure fails and nobody catches it. We're building so that never happens again. If you want to rebuild an industry that touches every single person alive, DM me. Anay Modi liked thisAnay Modi liked thisI had the worst and best sleep of my life 2 days apart. Monday night at 2am, I called my mom just to chat. Her birthday's coming up, so I wanted to surprise her. Then she tells me she won't be home that day. I panicked. I didn't have her exact address, and wanted to ship her something. So, I went throttle mode. After the call, I opened Swiggy and ordered a pineapple fruit cake (because she loves pineapple!!). Within 10 minutes, a cake was at her door in Mumbai while I placed the order from 8000 miles away. My cousins helped pull it of and thank you Unnati for capturing that beautiful moment. By the time the excitement settled and the birthday song ended, it was 3:30am. Then came the next problem. She was leaving the next evening, and I had to order a gift tonight for it to arrive tomorrow morning. After a lot of deliberation, I finally placed the order and checked the time: 5:15am. Then I thought, no point sleeping, and seeing the happiness in my mom's eyes was enough to keep me awake the whole day. I did crash hard later though, collapsing at 7:30pm the next night. But I then had the best sleep of my life, waking up at 12pm haha (14+ hours of sleep) Happy birthday in advance mama. I wish I could be there with you, but I’m trying my best from here :) Thank you for everything you've done for me, and hope I am making you proud and happy. ❤️

Seeing how successful everyone around me is, sometimes I feel like I’m not doing enough. But I’ve realized that we’re all on our own journeys and have great things coming. The best thing we can do is support each other. So to whoever is reading this post, you are killing it and you will continue to do so. Anysphere (Cursor), that I profiled recently appears to be launching Composer 2. The shocking part? They claim it’s a frontier-level coding model that matches or beats the performance of flagship models like GPT-5.4 and Opus 4.6 at roughly 1/10th the cost. Composer 2 scores 60.0 on CursorBench and 59.8 on Terminal-Bench 2.0, outperforming Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.5. Cursor has priced the model at $0.50/M input and $2.50/M output tokens - drastically lower than any comparable frontier model. Launched a new RL process called self-summarization that allows the model to master complex tasks requiring hundreds of individual actions. Bloomberg and The New Stack also have pieces out on this today.
