Alvin Hom liked thisAlvin Hom liked thisThere really aren’t words to express the way the people at PacBio have impacted my life over the last 4 years. Today is my last official day as an employee at PacBio and I am overwhelmed with emotion. The people in this video (and so many others not photographed here) have supported me through the highest highs and the lowest lows. As many of you know, both of my children were born while I was at PacBio. I firmly believe that my community and friendships with all my colleagues at PB were all part of God’s plan. I have learned so much from everyone I have had the pleasure to meet and work with. However, the biggest thing I have learned is that they love me for who I am. I have never felt so seen as I have by the people at PacBio. Seen for my strengths. Seen for my passion. Seen for my values. They see me. They saw me before kids, after 1 kid, and now, after 2 kids and launching my business. And you know what, when I was lost and struggling to find my identity as a working mom, they saw me and only ever offered support. I am lucky. I don’t know how I got so lucky, but my goal now with my new venture is to go out into the world and see people and empower them the way my peers at PacBio have shown me is possible. If you’re reading this and you’ve been a part of my life the last 4 years - Thank you. My time as a PacBio employee may be done, but the best is yet to come. Stay tuned for more about my new adventure…the chapter where JT owns her own business.

Alvin Hom reacted on thisAlvin Hom reacted on thisAll we see on Microsoft teams is a smiling face and maybe some pictures, a couch, a peloton bike 😜 or a blurry background. As I head into my last week of work before maternity leave I want to share what REAL looks like in our home office. Lots of diapers stacked high (gifted from the amazing people in our life), a crib, my peloton bike because I firmly believe in taking care of my body, mind, and my growing baby. As I enter my last month of pregnancy I want to express the utmost gratitude to my boss who gave me grace when I vomited multiple times for 24 weeks, my coworkers who never stopped checking on me and delivering incredible results, my husband for supporting me as a working pregnant mother while also raising an almost 2 year old, and my body for continuously showing up for me even when I felt I couldn’t do another meeting, presentation, training or email. Gratitude will always be the best attitude. I’m adopting the mantra for 2024 of “I’m not done yet.” I’m not done growing. I’m not done learning. I’m not done and I will keep showing up. I’ll miss all of my colleagues during maternity leave, but I am excited to pour my heart into my family during this special season of life. If you’re reading this, thank you for loving me. Keep shining. You’re also not done yet. Go get what’s yours!

This past year has been filled with remarkable milestones and breakthroughs, and we're honored to have played a role in advancing genomics research. Our customers have been at the forefront of groundbreaking discoveries, and their success stories have truly been inspiring as they continue to make tremendous scientific strides across the tree of life, from human genomics to plant and animal sciences. We are also so proud of our team. Our new long-read system, Revio, earned several prestigious industry awards this year, which serves as a shining testimony to our team's commitment to innovation and supporting our customers in their quest for knowledge. As we finish the year celebrating the one-year anniversary of Revio being announced to the world, we look ahead at how we can continue to empower scientists and researchers to push the boundaries of what was once thought possible. Oh, and how could we forget? Even the color of the year, Viva Magenta, perfectly complemented our brand! We are deeply grateful to the genomics community for such an exciting year and eagerly look forward to seeing what 2024 holds for us! #NewYear #PacBio #Genomics
