I’ve already learned so much from Slayton, and I’m excited for the opportunity to continue growing while making an impact on our Stop Loss practice nationally. I’m also incredibly grateful for everything I’ve learned supporting the Dunning series over the years. The lead consultants and associates I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside truly helped pave the way for me, and I’m thankful for the knowledge, support, and trust they’ve given me throughout my career. My head spins when I think about joining Lockton a short six years ago as a senior analyst with very little health & welfare knowledge and now being one of the leaders of our incredible Actuarial & Financial Analytics team. I’m SO thankful to my team for trusting me and for putting up with my shenanigans. Can’t wait to watch us reach new heights!

Last month, I stood in front of the Alamo, one of the most iconic places in American history, and became a US citizen. I won't pretend the journey was easy. Navigating work visas, rebuilding my career, earning my MBA, proving myself in corporate America. Each step required me to be resourceful, patient, and relentless, skills that, it turns out, are exactly what it takes to build a company. Today as I'm building my own company, and I look back at that version of me, nervous, determined, carrying a suitcase full of courage, with so much pride.Because resilience isn't something you develop in a classroom. It's something you earn by doing hard things over a long period of time. To everyone in the middle of it right now, the work visas, the renewals, the naturalization process, the waiting. Yes, the process is long. Yes, everyone complains about it and they're not wrong. But the hard things are what shape us. The patience, the persistence, the moments you wanted to quit and didn't. That's how you build character and achieve the things you want. That's how you build a business. I remember now the advice my grandmother Magali would give us when she was alive: "O importante é a resiliência, ser como o bamboo que vai até o chão e volta, e segue firme, forte e vivo." "What matters is resilience, to be like the bamboo that bends all the way to the ground and comes back, standing firm, strong and alive." Keep going. 🪴 😊
