Appreciate everyone who joined and shared their insights! 🌹Allison Ngo reacted on thisBe01 had the opportunity to visit our neighbor city Portland, Oregon 🌹 this past week and connect with the founder community to share about Flyway - an early preview tool we've been developing to help founders, entrepreneurs, and idea builders brainstorm, validate, and shape new business and startup ideas. It helps evaluate ideas across dimensions like market viability, feasibility, and profitability, while providing guidance to navigate the early ideation phase. It was an amazing time for us - not only because we got to show & tell the beta version of Flyway, but more importantly we got to learn from the idea builders and founders who attended (We probably spent just as much time in discussions as the demo itself.). It was genuinely cool to also meet some of the current beta users in real life. A big thank you to everyone who joined us and to Upstart Collective for hosting us. We left with lots of exciting thoughts for how to evolve Flyway and energized to build an even better tool for this community. We're currently running a closed beta of Flyway. Earlier this month, I rejoined Truist, working as a Senior UX Researcher with my previous manager, Joey Evans, and his amazing team. This is an exciting switch for me, as I finally have a hybrid work schedule - something I've been wanting for a while. The flexibility of remote is incredible (especially for someone who likes to travel) but this move to 4 days in-office has been so energizing. I love collaborating in person with teammates and running into friends during lunch! My time as a UX Designer at The Home Depot was full of great learning opportunities, thanks to the wisdom of Bill Higgins and leadership of Nicholas Johnson, and I have to say that I'll miss the design side. However, I'm excited to transition back into research with a renewed interest to keep the collaboration strong with my designers!

If you are interested in running any kind of research, qualitative or quantitative, UX or market, and want your dollars to help a group of people who desperately need help right now, please reach out to me. What this means on paper is that if you spend $1000 with me, $500 of that will be donated by a queer person (me) to charities for queer people like the Trevor Project and Trans Lifeline. I guess it's because IG has been my main networking platform while running my independent art business full-time––a childhood dream that I was fortunate to have been able to live for the last 4 years. But the bubble has popped a little and I am now looking for other full-time or contract work. I hope to find a role that is still creatively fulfilling, if not strictly illustration, but I am open to return to my roots in product design as well. Every post on here seems to be about how impossible the job market is right now, and I bet these automated ATS systems don't like the tech industry gap in my resume. If you know me personally, you'll know that I've worked harder than most corporate workers to run my business, acting as CEO, head designer, inventory manager, customer service rep, marketing executive, and social media expert. So I'm reaching out to my network now to help me find the right job that will be worth taking a step away from my beloved business.
