Alison Thurber reposted thisThis is the kind of work that gets us excited: helping turn a scientific breakthrough into a real, manufacturable product. Beyond design and engineering, our teams are supporting Illumisoft across market and technology assessments, supply chain and manufacturing review, form factor development, prototyping, and pilot readiness, building a disciplined path to get SaniLux safely into the hospitals, transit hubs, and schools that need it. We're proud to be part of the effort to change that. We're working with Illumisoft to help bring its SaniLux far UVC disinfection platform to market, taking it from a promising technology to a fully engineered, manufacturable product for healthcare, transit, education, and hospitality spaces. Ryan Starling (Head of Industrial Design, West Coast, frog, part of Capgemini) sees real potential in far UVC to improve human health and well-being, while Kaethe Blue Henning (Director, Consumer HealthTech Business of Synapse Product Development, part of Capgemini) calls it an important scientific breakthrough. Alison Thurber reacted on thisAlison Thurber reacted on thisToday marks another special milestone for me. I'm incredibly proud to see the expansion of Guadalajara's MiBici public bikeshare system become the first large-scale deployment of Lyft Urban Solutions's new product line, bringing 100 new stations and 960 e-bikes to the network including the launch of the new Astro e-bike, right on time for the World Cup start. What makes this moment even more meaningful is that MiBici was also my very first project 12 years ago—and the first company's deployment in Latin America. Having the opportunity to contribute to its continued growth and evolution over more than a decade is something I never take for granted. A sincere thank you to the AMIM Agency and the Gobierno del Estado de Jalisco for their vision and commitment to sustainable transportation, to our operations partner BKT bici pública for their dedication in delivering this expansion, and to the incredible team at Lyft whose hard work, expertise, and collaboration made this milestone possible. #MiBici #LyftUrbanSolutions #BikeShare #EBike #UrbanMobility #emobility #Guadalajara

We use the tagline, "Photonium is building EDA for optics." But I think to most people, that isn't really all that informative Traditionally, EDA (Electronic Design Automation) is the engineering suite used to design semiconductor devices. It's a fairly long-standing, systemized set of tools that are supplied by companies like Synopsys or Cadence. EDA is a staple of the soon-to-be trillion-dollar industry. Optics is already a hundred-billion-dollar-plus industry, but the design process is still largely manual. Optics has continuous design spaces and some physics that can't be easily abstracted. It’s somewhat of an art, with fewer building blocks and a fundamental reliance on an individual lens designer's intuition. I think that's why the tagline “EDA for optics” sells what we're building here at Photonium a little short. We aren't trying to recreate EDA's approach tool-by-tool. We're building on top of that framework to do something much more powerful: a software that is rooted in the analysis/simulation tools of today (Zemax, CODE V) while leveraging AI to navigate the complex, high-dimensional solution space of optical design. I won’t go into specifics now, but that’s what next generation optical design looks like. At the end of the day, I don't think “EDA for Optics” is too far off from what we're doing. I just think we have a very modern view of what that tag line could mean. Okay, as a bonus, here's a classic Cooke triplet photographic objective designed solely by our software - no human involved except for the design request.
