Stop calling yourself a "Prompt Engineer." You're not an engineer. You're typing sentences into a text box. "10 best prompts for developers" is the same energy as "10 magic phrases to say to your boss." There are no cheat codes. There's just: knowing what you want + being able to explain it. We've had a word for this since forever. It's called "communication." The only difference? Now you're communicating with a machine that doesn't judge your grammar. Are you "Email Engineers" because you know how to use Gmail? Are you "Google Search Specialists" because you know how to find "exact phrase"? You just learned the tool and moved on. AI is a tool. One of the most under-recognized factors in vibe coding success: the STOP button. I just had the LLM tell me "Ok, we've run the validation script you requested and we're getting a response back so let's move to migrate the changes into the main API" No. STOP! STOP! STOP! You got a 500 error back from the validation script I told you to use, that doesn't validate that the script works outside the API monolith... you idiot. If you just let it run on it's own, you're cooked. BUT, if you interrupt it before it confuses and hallucinates itself more and starts piling garbage on top of garbage, you can make it work I should just change my job title to "babysitter", that's where all the leverage will be it seems

As a hiring person interviewing a candidate for software development position, I am only interested in seeing how that candidate writes tests. I'm not interested in seeing how they write code that makes the tests pass. If the candidate fumbles when designing and writing tests, it's a surefire sign that they are not up for the job.
