Medical Sales Reps: Leverage Your Leaders Your leaders want you to close deals just as badly as you do. (Sometimes even more). They can help you. Often, they were once salespeople themselves, or they worked in prior roles where they interacted with physicians, administrators, and leaders in your territory. - Learn about your leaders to see if they have any contacts in your territory. If there is a new leader in your organization, dive into their LinkedIn profile to see their work history and location. See who they are connected with in your network. - Ask your leaders at a sales conference or ask your Regional Manager to ask senior leadership if they have any connections in their area. - Ghostwrite or ask them to write an intro email. Send a text. Help them open some doors for you. When I moved from CA to Ohio. I had a senior leader send a note to a surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic that he had known for years. My first week I stopped by, and the physician welcomed me in and helped me learn the lay of the land, and introduced me to other physicians and clinicians. Leverage your leaders. You are not an island. They want you to be successful just as much or sometimes even more than you. How have you leveraged your leaders to help you grow your business? Be the CEO of your territory. Make it easy for your physicians and accounts to say, “Yes”. You got this! 🤜 🤛

I’m a doctor. And I despise healthcare software sales calls. Every week: “Sir, 10 minutes demo?” “Sir, this will increase revenue.” “Sir, limited offer.” I don’t need another demo. I need my workflow fixed. Here’s the uncomfortable truth: Most healthcare software doesn’t sell because it’s great. It sells because someone keeps calling. Relentlessly. And as a doctor, I can tell you — That strategy alone tells me the product probably isn’t good enough. If your system truly solved a painful, daily, expensive problem, doctors would find it. We Google. We research. We ask peers. We don’t need to be hunted. Now here’s the twist. I’m building healthcare software. And I refuse to grow it by harassing clinicians. No cold-calling army. No desperate demos. No “sir just 5 minutes”. If my product can’t: • Demonstrate value instantly • Improve measurable workflow efficiency • Reduce cognitive load • Increase revenue without manipulation Then it doesn’t deserve adoption.

Here's how AI is changing the game for healthtech SDRs: AI-powered research before outreach. Use AI to map the org chart, identify the economic buyer, and find recent regulatory news affecting their system. Show up informed. Not generic. AI-assisted personalization. Reference their EHR system. Reference their patient population. "I noticed your network expanded to rural care last quarter. Most platforms struggle to serve that segment efficiently." That line gets replies. AI for compliance-aware messaging. Healthtech buyers reject vendors who sound like they don't understand HIPAA, interoperability, or EHR integrations. Use AI to stress-test your outreach before you send it. The reps winning in healthtech aren't just better at sales. They're better at the intersection of sales + domain knowledge + smart tools.
