Sadly, most people still think it only writes emails. A few months ago, I watched someone use AI like autocomplete. Write this email. Summarise this doc. Make this better. Useful? Yes. But then I saw what Microsoft is building. And the whole thing clicked. It is becoming a work system. • Chat for daily answers • Researcher for deep research • Analyst for data reasoning • Facilitator for meetings • Interpreter for live translation • Notebooks for project memory • Studio for custom agents Here is where Microsoft Copilot gets interesting: ✅ In Word Draft, rewrite, summarise, and reference files. ✅ In Excel Explore data, create formulas, and use Python. ✅ In PowerPoint Turn docs and ideas into presentations. ✅ In Outlook Summarize threads, draft replies, and manage follow-ups. ✅ In Teams Recap meetings, track tasks, and help people catch up. But the bigger unlock is the agents. • Researcher → turns messy information into reports • Analyst → reasons through data like a mini data scientist • Facilitator → moves meetings from chaos to clarity • Interpreter → removes language barriers Copilot Studio takes this further. Companies can build agents for: • approvals • reporting • onboarding • sales workflows • support workflows • internal knowledge • repetitive operations The winning teams will build AI into how work moves. Albert Trujillo liked thisAlbert Trujillo liked thisHere is how I run a Backlog Refinement session as a BA. Step by step. Most refinement sessions fail before they start. Not because the team is bad but because the BA showed up empty-handed. Here's my 6-step process: Prep the Stories Before the Session → Review the top 10-15 backlog items before the meeting → Make sure every story has a title, description, and acceptance criteria → Flag anything unclear, too large, or missing context ↳ Share the agenda and pre-read with the team 24 hours before Check the Definition of Ready → User story written in the correct format → Acceptance criteria defined → Dependencies identified → Design or wireframe attached where needed → Story is small enough to complete in one sprint ↳ If the team can't estimate it, park it. Do not commit to it. Size and Estimate → Walk the team through each ready story → Use story points or t-shirt sizing ↳ If the team can't agree on an estimate, the story needs more clarity. Split it first. Split Epics and Oversized Stories → By workflow step: Step 1 as one story, Step 2 as another → By user type: admin story separate from end user story → By happy path vs edge cases: core flow first, exceptions later ↳ A story that splits into 10 pieces was never a story. It was an epic. Reorder by Value → Higher value, lower effort items move to the top → Dependencies and blockers inform sequencing too ↳ Prioritisation is a PO decision. But the BA provides the evidence to make it. Update the Board → Move sprint-ready stories to the top → Flag unready stories with what is missing → Capture all decisions immediately after the session ↳ Decisions not captured are decisions lost. It's one of the worst things about the job search process. My client was in a final stage interview for a FTSE 100 company. She was a great fit for the role. After hours of screening calls, assessments & interviews: She was told she'd get a final outcome in 3 days. 3 days pass by with no word. She followed up. Nothing. She sent a two more chasers. No response. Ghosted. Weeks later, she got a generic e-mail: "We've found someone more suited." She asked for feedback. Nothing. She genuinely thought this was her dream job. And it stressed her out so much. Any feedback is better than no feedback. Employers, do better. Stop ghosting candidates. It's disrespectful and reflects horribly on your brand.
