Aaron Weiner reposted thisHey guys, I don't really share too much on LinkedIn but wanted to bring to your attention that we started to sell our product, Synecta T1, for the activation of T cells. It is a promising, easy to use product that allows faster activation for production of high quality T cells at shorter amount of time and without the usage of soluble cytokines. We are working on all fronts to make sure it will be an easy transition for any company that wants to adapt our product. Below you see an example of one action we took on the regulatory front to allow quick regulatory adaptation. One other action on that front is the on-going phase I clinical trail (looks very promising). On the supply chain side, we are working on a GMP production with our new strategic partner, Avantor. Please let us know if you want to learn more.Aaron Weiner reposted thisThe Synecta platform has received FDA Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) designation, recognizing it as a next-generation approach that supports reliable, high-quality, and scalable engineered T-cell manufacturing. Synecta provides a physiological, membrane-bound activation method designed to streamline workflows and support manufacturing as programs progress toward clinical and commercial scale. For developers, the AMT designation enables earlier, more frequent interaction with the FDA, supporting efficient progression into late-stage and commercial manufacturing. Aaron Weiner shared this⏳ Time and runway have never been more under the microscope in this industry than they are right now. Building a performance management system in biotech startup isn't just about checking boxes and reviews...it's about aligning science, strategy, and people to make the most of their time and contributions. In our collaboration with BlueWhale Bio, we created and rolled out a scalable performance management system that fits their scientific culture, sets clear expectations, and supports growth. 🏁 The results? A smooth review cycle, better manager-employee alignment, and a strong foundation for career development. Check out what CEO, Peter Keller had to say... “The performance system we implemented with AK Bio has been a game changer, it helps us hire people who truly fit our culture, set clear goals at both the team and individual level, and retain the talent that drives our science forward. It’s also helped us right-size our teams more effectively and reduce recruiting costs while supporting both talent and investor attraction, demonstrating that we’re intentional and thoughtful about building a scalable company.” -- If you're building a biotech company and wondering when or how to put structure around performance, happy to share what worked or hear what's working for you.

Nava is tackling one of the biggest challenges in genetic medicine: developing delivery technologies that can get therapies to the right cells and tissues. The company’s first focus is in vivo CAR-T, an emerging approach that aims to move beyond traditional cell therapy manufacturing by reprogramming T cells directly inside the body. Nava is also developing LNPs designed to target the kidney — an organ that has historically been difficult to reach with genetic medicines and could open new opportunities for treating diseases with limited options today. Congratulations to the entire Nava Therapeutics team! Aaron Weiner liked thisAaron Weiner liked thisThis morning, I finished my last team meeting as Global Head of Regulatory Policy and Innovation at Takeda. The past five years have been incredible. Over this time, I worked closely with Nahid Latif to build and shape a team and function that I'm deeply proud of, grounded in a simple idea: regulatory policy isn't peripheral to product strategy—it is product strategy. We built the group around a philosophy we called "Policy for Impact": using policy deliberately, collaboratively, and proactively to create value for our pipeline and, ultimately, for patients. Together, we demonstrated what policy can achieve when it is approached strategically: • successfully challenging CRLs • transferring a Sakigake designation to unlock a new asset • securing the industry's first orphan designation for Narcolepsy Type 1 • meaningfully incorporating the patient voice into multiple rare disease applications • co-developing an AI-enabled platform with Weave.bio to accelerate multi-agency reviews And at the same time, we worked alongside colleagues through initiatives like the Charles Forum and PRISM to advance regulatory science. I've loved my time at Takeda. I'm especially grateful to Nahid Latif and Andy Plump for believing that policy could be a strategic differentiator and giving us the opportunity to prove it. One of the first things Andy ever said to me was, "I'm excited to see what Regulatory Policy can do for Takeda." That belief shaped much of what followed. And most of all, my team. To Kristin Van Goor, Jesus Muniz, Cameron Kieffer, PhD, Sini Eskola, Yuji Kashitani, Annette Schmid, PhD, Helene S., David Hampton, Matthew Raymond, PhD, Lindsay Cobbs, Rose Purcell, Anzhela Kukh, Patrick Mumo, Danni Shen, Rieko Wu and many others—thank you for your collaboration and creativity. Everything we accomplished was a reflection of your talent, dedication, and commitment to patients. Takeda has been a special chapter for me. I'll carry these experiences—and the relationships that came with them—with me into what comes next. #RegulatoryPolicy #PatientVoice #Innovation

Aaron Weiner liked thisCongrats to two of my closest/longtime friends Han Kim and Kevin Bennett, and new friends like Angela Gao on launching Fearn AI! A Promethean effort to give inventors the power! 💪 Proud to be a tiny part of their story. Go team!Aaron Weiner liked thisToday we’re announcing Fearn’s $5.5M seed, led by Kindred Ventures, with a16z speedrun, Designer Fund, and Essence Venture Capital. Patent systems across the world are first-to-file. The priority date is everything. This means that inventors with elite in-house IP teams can file in 48 hours. Everyone else waits weeks. Those weeks are the difference between taking the speaking invitation and passing, between publishing and staying quiet, between closing the deal and watching it slip. We're cutting patent drafting from 50+ hours to 20 minutes, at a flat $2,000 per patent application—a cost reduction of up to 96% against the traditional model. Fearn is not a wrapper on a general-purpose model. We compose dozens of small models—some LLM-based, some built from scratch—engineered to resist hallucination and to produce drafts with formally verified guarantees against the failure modes that matter in prosecution, including written-description sufficiency under §112(a) and the figure-labeling requirements of §1.84(p)(5) and MPEP §608.01(g). No calls to outside AI. Every model is self-hosted. I spent years in Big Law drafting patents the traditional way. Innovation moves at one speed, protection moves at another. That mismatch is where inventors lose ground. We built Fearn to close it. If your IP spend is too high, or you’re tired of your engineers and scientists explaining their work to lawyers, try Fearn. No sales call required.
