Adam Kukoff liked thisAdam Kukoff liked thisHappy to announce that I am now Coach X at Equinox. 4 and a half years with the company, and I remember even before starting my coaching career, I knew I would make my way to Equinox. I was able to have great exposure, relationships, and learnings at Gold's Gym beforehand, along with other opportunities, and then came time for Equinox. Fast forward to today, and post 6 months of training to become Coach X, I see why I was so compelled to take it to Equinox in the first place. My mom asked a great question... "How does it help you?" There are many directions and aspects of the role, education, opportunity, and more that 'help me' .. most though when I think about it, I was able to do something I set out to do and now am keeping the standard for which I believe in. All Coach X means is.. the work does not stop. This is for us to keep going.

First: a Staff Software Engineer to lead the team. Responsible for fleet visibility, compliance, cost-per-mile, predictive maintenance, etc. Ali Paracha is already driving product, and this role will lead engineering day one. Second: a Data Engineer. Robotaxi ops is fundamentally a data problem — reconciling conflicting systems, building pipelines, and standing up the data models that the entire fleet runs on. Tesla is a well-developed business with a lot of work already in motion on systems already in place across the enterprise. I need people who are collaborative, relentless, can navigate ambiguity, and want to build something new inside an organization that’s already moving fast. This week Playhouse MD expands nationwide in Target along with the launch of the newest product in our lineup, the Giraffe Thermometer. Paid a visit and looks amazing on shelf! 10 months to nationwide. It's been a grind to keep up. But with a ridiculous amount of work and the best team ever, not only did we keep up, we got ahead. The new Dietary Guidelines for Americans was released last week, and I’d love to see more commentary from CPG folks on it, especially those in baby and childhood categories. From an industry perspective, I’ll give credit where it’s due: the rollout clearly succeeded in one way -- people are talking about it for the first time in years. The consumer-facing experience is polished, accessible, and very “DTC-ified.” And the “eat real food” tagline aligns both with nutrition science and where I believe consumer preferences are ultimately headed (hot take: savvy consumers will eventually trade supplements and protein-spiked junk back in for actual real food, please don’t hate me). But if you work on this side of the industry, you don’t just look at the upside-down triangle graphic and call it a day. You read the appendices. You look at recommended serving sizes. You convert cups to ounces to calories and back again because these details have real consequences. They inform FDA guidance, labeling rules, and what we can and cannot say on packaging. I’ve spent hundreds of professional hours doing exactly this over my career, including the last several years working in one of the most sensitive subcategories of CPG: baby food. So I was a bit surprised (and honestly disappointed) to see that this edition appears to remove calorie-based dietary pattern examples for children that were included in 2020. Parents want that specificity even if most never read the DGAs themselves. Overall, my take is that the guidelines are… fine? There’s some conflicting messaging (please keep your saturated fats in check people), but the spirit is consistent: eat real food, diversify nutrient sources. Food policy is always political, but it’s worth noting that the 2020 DGAs were also released under a Trump administration, so more continuity exists here than headlines suggest. 2025 made it (ever)clear that alcohol isn’t really growing right now. Beer finished flat to down. Wine continued to decline. Even spirits slowed after years of steady growth. Consumers didn’t stop drinking, but overall demand stopped expanding on its own. We felt that at Cape Cod’r this year. It wasn’t about expansion or chasing new doors. It was about discipline and protecting the brand in accounts that actually reciprocated support. Reorders mattered more than launches or line extensions. That experience isn’t unique, but it’s becoming more common across the industry. Here’s how I see 2026 shaping up. The industry becomes less focused on new launches or celebrity engineered growth and more focused on replacement. RTDs continue to take share because they replace what people would have otherwise reached for. A beer at the beach, cocktail at home or the second/third drink that feels lighter. In 2025 spirit-based RTDs were one of the only segments still growing at high single-digit rates while most other categories stalled or declined. Moderation keeps evolving, but not as quitting entirely. Even as an RTD founder, I still love a good martini once in a while. But lower-ABV and sessionable/easy drinking products continued to outperform higher-proof options in 2025, signaling that consumers want balance and maybe not complete abstinence. The industry isn’t falling apart. It’s just adjusting. And in 2026, the brands that win will be the ones that fit real life best - Cape Cod'r | Craft Cocktails.
