Evaluating AI for Finance: Is AI Credible at Assessing Investment Risk Appetite?
arXiv
See publicationTesting proprietary (GPT, Claude, Gemini) and open-weight (LLaMA, DeepSeek, Mistral) systems on diverse, realistic user profiles revealed that risk scores often vary with factors like country or gender—despite these being unrelated to risk. For example, GPT-4o gave higher scores to Nigerian and Indonesian profiles. While some models performed well in certain ranges, none consistently avoided demographic bias, raising concerns for regulatory compliance in AI-driven finance.
