Aaron Pizzuti shared thishttps://lnkd.in/gCeg9arQ Simple, and timeless advice. All through design school I was in a mad scramble to catch Matt Widmann and Tobias France. Their drawing and rendering abilities were miles ahead of mine. Each week they would hang up their work and blow everyone — including the instructors and visiting OEM designers — away. I’m not sure either of them expected to mentor all of their classmates throughout their college careers, but they did, and the whole class benefited from it. Saul Bass wasn’t talking about style or talent — he was talking about thinking. Drawing is how ideas are formed, tested, and understood before tools get involved. Today it’s easier than ever to jump straight into AI prompts or 3D models, but skipping the act of drawing risks skipping the thinking itself. Technology can accelerate ideas, but it can’t replace the clarity that comes from learning to draw. If you can’t sketch it, you probably don’t understand it. #industrialdesign #aidesign #pizzutidesign

Aaron Pizzuti shared this"Closing the Gap" Car Design & Coffee ☕️ Ideas don’t arrive fully formed. By the time a designer puts something into a sketch, the idea is already becoming real in their mind — even if it still looks rough on paper. (Like the sketch at the beginning of this animation.) The challenge is that many people on a product team don’t think that way. Sketches can be hard to read. They often need to see something far more realistic to believe an idea is viable. And for a sketch/idea to receive more development. In the past, closing that gap required time and resources — including detailed renderings, 3D models, and full animations. Of the thousands of sketches a designer creates, very few ever make it that far. This animation started with a Rivian theme sketch from 2015. The idea was already there in my mind. What AI changed wasn’t the thinking. It shortened the distance between design intent and reality. The gap between these two images used to represent days or months of work. Now it’s closer to four hours. (I wonder how quickly we’ll take that for granted — like Wi-Fi on a plane?) Shortening that distance gives more ideas a chance to be clearly seen by a wider audience. Work flow: Idea, hand sketching, prompting crafting with Grok, several rounds of Midjourney iterations for image creation and then Midjourney Animation. The result is close to what I was imagining. From here if I were to develop it further I would use the front and rear three quarter views as sketch under lays. Finalize the design with more intention with hand and digital sketching in Photoshop. And then take those sketches into Vizcom for final tuning and earlier 3D development. Over the years, I’ve seen a consistent pattern: the higher the title, the easier it is for blind spots to go unchallenged. Conformity can create comfort, but it rarely creates clarity. When people feel pressure to agree, soften the truth, or avoid tension, leaders lose access to the honest insight they need most. Authenticity is different. It invites candor. It creates space for honest feedback, respectful challenge, and real growth. It allows leaders to hear what is true, not just what is comfortable. That is where a healthier culture begins, because we are creating a safe environment for openness and honesty (consistently!). Only with AM General LLC and Mandus Group Ltd.Aaron Pizzuti liked thisHawkeye 105mm Testing Support This week some of our team has been in the US supporting Mandus Group Ltd and AM General LLC testing production standard 105mm Hawkeye Soft Recoil Howitzers. We develop the onboard software and the gun is fully integrated to our Arc-Fire digital Fires C2 System. We conducted three days of testing with fully digital missions from observer to fire direction centre to howitzer. The testing covered direct, low angle and high angle shooting including maximum charges. From a professional gunnery perspective, it was impressive to see the amount of pressure sensors, reference points and data collection devices on the howitzer. You could not get more robust testing! For those that have not seen soft recoil howitzers, they are a game changer allowing mounting on light vehicles and thereby enhancing strategic, operational and tactical mobility! A huge thank you to Mandus Group Ltd and AM General LLC for hosting us so well. We couldn't wish to work with a more professional team!

One of the biggest lessons I've learned in innovation is that what seems obvious to us isn't always obvious to everyone else. As creators, we're so close to our ideas that we can forget others are seeing them for the first time. That's why storytelling matters. So do sketches, prototypes, visuals, and demonstrations. The goal isn't just to explain an idea. It's to help someone experience it. Because when people can truly see the value, they're much more likely to believe in it. And that's often the difference between a good idea and one that changes everything. #Leadership #Innovation #Storytelling

Aaron Pizzuti liked thisAaron Pizzuti liked thisAs General Motors celebrates America’s 250th, we’re reflecting on GM's role in shaping our nation and on the moments in our lives when a vehicle meant more than just transportation. For me, that imprint started early, shaped by my father's love affair with the Corvette. At 19, right out of high school, he bought a black 1963 split-window. A few years later, when my sister and I came along, he traded it for a '72 Stingray. There may have been a Firebird in the mix somewhere, but the lasting impressions were always the Corvettes. To me, the Corvette is America's sports car, an enduring symbol of this country's passion for automobiles. It reflects the belief that freedom, technology, performance, and personal expression should be within reach of all of us. The Corvette isn't just a vehicle. It represents the idea that life can be better and more exciting for everyone, driven by bold individualism. The American dream itself, captured on four wheels. Those memories feel especially meaningful as we mark this historic 250th anniversary of the United States, a moment to celebrate the freedom, optimism, and spirit of design that have always driven us forward. #IWorkforGM
