At Blue Heron Environmental, we recognize the importance of National Indigenous History Month as an opportunity to reflect on, learn from, and celebrate the histories, cultures, knowledge, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada. It is timely that next week, during National Indigenous History Month, Kathy-Lynn Morrish, our Environmental and Indigenous Community Support Specialist, will be attending the Canadian Mining Expo (CME) in Timmins. Kathy-Lynn represents Zhashagi, a wing of Blue Heron Environmental. Zhashagi is the Ojibway word for “Blue Heron,” and is dedicated to supporting Indigenous Communities through environmental training and mentorship, technical reviews of environmental assessments and resource development projects, and environmental monitoring. Through Zhashagi, we work alongside Indigenous Communities, organizations, and project proponents to support informed decision-making, meaningful engagement, and responsible environmental stewardship. If you'll be attending CME, we invite you to connect with Kathy-Lynn and learn more about the work we do. Today in Canada, we recognize Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation — a time to reflect on the impact of residential schools and honor Indigenous survivors, families, and communities. Inspired by Phyllis Webstad’s story, wearing orange is a symbol of remembrance and solidarity. It’s one way we can commit to ongoing learning and reconciliation. Our team is proud to participate by wearing orange and standing together in support. Let’s continue listening, learning, and taking meaningful steps forward. #EveryChildMatters #OrangeShirtDay #TruthAndReconciliation #TeamSupport #IndigenousVoices
