But living outside the official Jackson ecosystem was making things complicated. It meant separate release cycles, reduced discovery, and split maintenance. When the JSR 354 lead asked about moving the module upstream, Sri Adarsh Kumar took on the challenge to integrate our library upstream into FasterXML's official jackson-datatypes-misc repository. We built a mini-city in Paris and let the kids run it 🐥🐥🐥 And our partners? They each built their own world: 🔸 adidas turned the courtyard into a cozy neighbourhood — football matches, T-shirt customisation, face painting and a bodega for snacks. 🔸 New Balance built the ultimate games zone — claw machine, reflex games and mini golf all in one. 🔸 Nike x the LEGO Group® let kids build a giant mosaic wall, design their own player cards and customise their tote bags 🔸 Tommy Hilfiger brought the ocean to Paris — with boat races and custom charms for the kids to keep. 🔸 Converse invited kids to personalise their style with pins and sneaker customisation. 🔸 Gap turned its space into a vibrant nightclub with a live DJ and dance workshops. 🔸 Nike Jordan celebrated street culture through basketball challenges and barbershop-inspired hair styling. 🔸 HUGO BOSS Kidswear created a TV studio where kids became the presenter, producer and camera operator. They run the show. 🔸 Nike ACG turned their space into a Base Camp — trails, adventure challenges and a campsite photo spot included. 🔸 Rituals France (B Corp™) x Super Chill created a calming retreat with guided relaxation sessions for kids, teens and parents. At the centre of it all – the Zalando Hotel. A place for families to recharge, strike a pose in the disco elevator photobooth, get crafty in the workshops and pick up a souvenir at City Hall. Say hello to Zalando Sans 📄 https://zln.do/4fzG6tc When we looked at updating our visual identity, we realised a bigger change was inevitable. We didn't just want a fresh coat of paint – we wanted a whole new visual voice. Our brand team partnered with Kurppa Hosk to design a completely custom, open-source typeface built from our core personality traits: bold, fun and welcoming. Here’s how we injected character into every single letter: 🔸 Bold stance: We use Zalando Sans Extended as our primary variant. It has a wider cut and a presence that speaks for itself. 🔸 Welcoming design: As a humanist sans font, it’s approachable, highly legible and designed with accessibility in mind. 🔸 Fun details: The magic is in the unexpected curves of characters like the K and the Q – plus it’s fully variable, meaning it’s built to move. By moving away from standard, off-the-shelf fonts, we’ve cut out licensing costs and created real brand differentiation. Even better? 🎒✨ Equal opportunities start in the classroom! For the second year in a row, we proudly supported Berliner Tafel e.V. to make their annual school bag packing initiative possible! The energy was incredible as nearly 200 Zalando volunteers rolled up their sleeves to pack 6,000 school bags for children affected by poverty in Berlin. Beyond the hands-on help, Zalando supported the initiative by donating the backpacks as well as financial funding to drive the project forward. We were also joined by wonderful partners, including young Caritas (who hand-sewed pencil cases) alongside other local foundations and toy donors, all uniting to ensure these kids get the exciting, well-equipped start to the new school year they deserve. "As a Berlin-based company, supporting our local community is deeply personal to us. Seeing our colleagues bring so much passion and dedication to the Berliner Großmarkt this week to give these children a great start to their school life was truly inspiring. Three cities. Six artists. Hundreds of people showing up for surprise moments. 🎤🧡 Our streetwear concept, The Corner, just left the screen to hit the streets of Denmark. Together with Universal Music Denmark, we brought The Corner Mashups to Odense, Copenhagen, and Aarhus - pairing established and emerging artists in a series of surprise pop-up concerts. Artists performed live inside a custom, microwave-inspired installation. Outside, the crowd gathered – never knowing who would press play until the music started. A true cultural live experience. The Corner is all about bringing fashion, music, and culture together naturally. By collaborating with local artists and communities, we're continuing to strengthen our connection with the next generation of Danish creatives and consumers.
