How do we move fashion from linear to circular — not just visibly, but verifiably? This weekend at Berlin Fashion Week: DANIELA FELDER & Annette Felder (FELDER FELDER INC / Future Fashion Concepts) hosted an intimate Roundtable Brunch, co-hosted by Collective Fashion Justice — on how material innovation and education can shape a regenerative future for fashion, with an exhibition by design students from Macromedia University of Applied Sciences and Istituto Marangoni Miami. On the panel, alongside the two hosts: Anna Franziska Michel (Founder & CEO yoona.ai (Techstars ´21), whose enterprise AI platform — digital twins and decision intelligence — shows how data-driven design can cut overproduction at the source. Among the guests, two voices we were glad to connect with: Ewa Emilia Geresz (Venture Café Berlin), who brings together exactly the innovators this transformation needs, and Daniela Schwerdt, World Cleanup Day Ambassador Germany, linking this conversation with the world's largest civic environmental action. Three threads stood out for us: Material innovation only scales when design, science and technology work in one loop — not in silos. Education is the fastest lever — the students in the room already think circular by default. And regenerative claims must be provable, not just beautiful. “The future belongs to creators blending emotional storytelling with technical expertise.” Meet Matthew Drinkwater, Director of the Fashion Innovation Agency at London College of Fashion, and a very special member of our international 𝗔𝗜 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 jury. Matthew is a world-renowned authority on emerging technologies in the creative industries, specializing in immersive technology and artificial intelligence. His work explores the evolving relationship between human creativity and machine intelligence, and what that means for creativity, identity, and reality in a computational world. He is also a longtime friend of our founder @AnnaFranziskaMichel. They have been part of the fashion-tech conversation together for years, long before AI became as present in the industry as it is today. Recognized by WIRED as a “pioneer and a visionary” and by Drapers as a “fashion-tech trailblazer,” Matthew also represents the creative sector on the UK Government’s Technical Working Group on AI and Copyright and serves on Innovate UK’s Bridge AI Advisory Board. What is he hoping to see from this year’s applicants? “Seeing global talent use AI for hybrid digital-physical concepts shows us exactly how fashion will express itself tomorrow.” Matthew brings a perspective that looks beyond AI-generated imagery alone. He’ll be looking for concepts that combine technical experimentation with emotional resonance, strong storytelling, and a clear vision for how products might move between physical and digital worlds. “One of the biggest challenges will be using AI sustainably. Right now, we are consuming more & more energy for simple tasks without questioning whether it is truly necessary.” Meet Udid Wild, Creative Designer and one of this year’s  𝗔𝗜 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 jury members. With more than 20 years of experience across trend, artwork, fashion, textile, and interior design, Judith brings a wide-ranging perspective on product creation and visual storytelling. Her work spans kidswear, menswear, womenswear, outerwear, accessories, bags, graphics, prints, AOPs, and artworks, combining trend sensitivity, color, structure, and craft with emerging workflows in 3D development, CLO, and AI-supported design. Beyond fashion, her creative practice also extends into interior design, illustration, murals, exhibitions, and artistic event concepts. For Judith, the future of design is not about replacing creative people with technology. “I see the future as a collaboration between technology and people, rather than the replacement of one by the other.” She is especially interested in submissions that use AI to introduce genuinely new ideas and perspectives rather than simply recreating what already exists. She is also bringing an important question to the jury: are we using AI meaningfully and sustainably, or consuming more energy for tasks that do not truly require it?
