A passkey sounds technical. The consumer experience is much simpler. Instead of entering or remembering another password, the consumer confirms the purchase using the biometric security available on their device. In our latest work with ING and Visa, Visa Payment Passkey was used to authenticate the purchase intent within the agent-initiated journey. Why does that matter? Because the consumer’s confirmation remains explicit, even when an AI agent supports the purchase. ING retains control over authorisation under Strong Customer Authentication, and the transaction creates a clear, verifiable record of what was approved. The shopping journey changes. Supporting the next phase of the digital euro. Worldline has been selected by the European Central Bank to participate in the Digital Euro Pilot. As part of this pilot, Worldline will contribute to the design and testing of digital euro acceptance components, covering both in-store and online environments. This work will help banks, financial institutions and merchants prepare for the integration of the digital euro into existing payment environments in a simple, secure, and scalable way. Worldline has been engaged in the digital euro journey from its early stages, bringing together expertise in payment acceptance, acquiring, issuing processing and orchestration. Through this pilot, we will continue supporting the development of practical and interoperable solutions that simplify deployment across the payment’s ecosystem.
