We're thrilled that the John Lewis Student Center at Georgia Institute of Technology has been recognized by AIA Atlanta as an award-winning, transformative project. We're grateful to our incredible collaborators at Cooper Carry for their partnership in bringing this project to life.
The Georgia Institute of Technology John Lewis Student Center, designed by Cooper Carry and WORKSHOP ARCHITECTS, transformed an underused, introverted student center into four interconnected buildings anchored by an active pedestrian thoroughfare. Winning a 2025 Honor Award for Educational & Research Facilities, the center features new spaces, including a flexible Exhibition Hall with eleven meeting rooms, a makerspace for the university's pottery program, and a three-story addition with theaters, dining, and student lounges. The design centers equity through reflection rooms and multicultural lounges and pairs locally sourced materials with efficient systems to create a building that glows outward at night as a campus beacon. 🏆 Submissions for the 2026 Awards for Architectural Distinction are open through August 31. Our team was on site at the College of Charleston last week to review progress on the renovation of the Stern Student Center. It’s exciting to see this transformative redevelopment taking shape as we breathe new life into an existing facility and reimagine it for today’s student experience. We’re proud to have partnered with Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, Hood Construction Company, Inc., and the College of Charleston on this important project, and we look forward to sharing continued updates along the way!
