  • Thank you to the St. Croix County Board of Supervisors for their thoughtful consideration of the proposed Lake Mallalieu drawdown and to everyone who took the time to attend meetings, submit comments, and share their perspectives throughout the process. With the Board's vote to rescind the County's conditional permission, the Wisconsin DNR's permit application is no longer considered complete, and the permit review process will not move forward at this time. We appreciate the community's engagement and remain committed to following this issue as it evolves, advocating for science-based decisions that protect the long-term health of the St. Croix River.

  • Urgent call to action - Your comments are needed on the proposed Lake Mallalieu drawdown. Wild Rivers Conservancy’s mission is to inspire stewardship to forever ensure the rare ecological integrity of the St. Croix and Namekagon Riverway. Every decision we make and every issue we engage in is guided by that mission. This proposed drawdown would release sediment and phosphorus into the St. Croix River, fueling harmful algal blooms, degrading aquatic habitat, and undermining decades of investment in restoring and protecting Lake St. Croix. It is why we oppose the proposed 7.5-foot drawdown of Lake Mallalieu. This project will be the largest permitted point-source phosphorus discharge to the St. Croix River in history. Our opposition is based on three key concerns. 1. The Drawdown Would Increase Pollution in an Already Impaired Lake 2. The Proposed Lake Mallalieu Drawdown Will Undermine Decades of Conservation Investment 3. It Sets the Wrong Precedent for the St. Croix River Learn more and learn how to take action here: https://lnkd.in/gQkWUrKh

  • Big news! we have a new website! https://lnkd.in/gvbUvXFX In December 2024 we identified the need for an updated and more modern web presence. Our strategic plan has been updated for use in 2026 to 2028, and we recognized the expected increase in community engagement that would come with EDDY. Thanks to a capacity building grant from the National Park Foundation, we were able to take the leap in this update. Countless hours of research and effort have gone into creating a platform that can serve both longtime supporters, and people new to the values of the Riverway. 🤝Building a platform for our future with a mission aligned partner. Us Creative Works has been helping organizations tell their stories and realize their missions for over a decade. From Save the Boundary Waters, to the Nature Conservancy, they have years of experience helping great organizations do great work. Us Creative was founded on the desire to make a difference.

Land protection in the St. Croix Watershed is crucial to protect our waterways. Land and water have an interconnected relationship; what happens on land miles away has a downstream effect on our St. Croix and Namekagon rivers. Landowners can do their part by filling out our landowner survey! ⭐ Click the link to learn more and get started: https://lnkd.in/gCdWHfCm Photos: Addy Gove, Trust for Public Land, H.
