This week, I participated in the University of Portsmouth Game Jam. It was so much fun as always; our team 'Rogues' had a fantastic time developing our game Slots & Shrooms, and won best overall game and best design. Check out the Itch.io page here: https://lnkd.in/egyjJdT7 Many thanks to everyone involved in the jam. It was so inspiring to see all the creativity and hard work of the other teams and their games. I'm looking forward to next year's Game Jam! Happy New Year everyone! From now on, we’ll be dropping bits of lore from time to time for those of you who like to read between the lines. If you’ve learned anything from MatPat over the years, you know what to look for 😉 https://lnkd.in/etDKZg6T

Dev Log 03 – The Christmas Special is Live! In this dev log, we get to see everything come together as we move closer to a graybox build. We are spending a lot of time testing systems, experimenting with ideas, and getting a feel for the core gameplay loop. This update is all about trying things out, seeing what works, and shaping how the game actually plays. As always, everything you see is work in progress, but we have made a lot of progress since the last dev log and are excited to share where things are at. Thanks for following along! Merry Christmas Everyone! https://lnkd.in/eKg5HqC4

Thank you so much for the shoutout, Innovation Connect! The team is so excited to have a dedicated space to finally bring our first game to life. Now that most of the admin is complete, production has officially begun! It’s been amazing to kick things off early ahead of our Self-Employed Placement year at the University of Portsmouth, and we’re looking forward to sharing the journey with you all as we take our first title from concept to launch. 🚀 Look forward for more exciting Wickford Games news on our socials! 🥳
New Business: Press X to Start. This summer, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Owen and Callum of Wickford Games into the space. They’re entering their Self Employed Placement year this September at the University of Portsmouth and have already shown real dedication by starting early. As students of Computer Games Art, they’ve previously worked on individual elements of games in a learning environment. Now, they’re preparing to take the next step by bringing a complete, polished game to market as their first major project. Getting ahead of the game, they’ve laid strong foundations by registering their company, launching social channels, and applying for a trademark. We’re excited to see what this talented team creates as they move from studies into entrepreneurship. Give them a follow to see what happens next!
