  • The most complicated part of an employee leaving usually isn’t the resignation itself. It’s everything that happens after. Who has access to what? Has final pay been handled correctly? Who is talking to the client? Where did that person keep the information everyone now needs? Did anyone get the laptop back? Are benefits and payroll being handled the same way every time? These are not the kinds of questions you want to figure out in a rush. Employee transitions are normal, and they don’t have to feel chaotic. A simple off-boarding checklist gives your team a clear path when emotions are high and details are easy to miss. It protects the business. It protects the team. And it helps ensure important knowledge doesn’t walk out the door on someone’s last day. If your off-boarding process mostly lives in someone’s head, now is the time to write it down. And if you want to talk this through with an expert, Webb CFO does more than just finance. We take a holistic look at a business's needs to inform our work. Let's talk. #BusinessOperations #Offboarding #Leadership #RiskManagement #WebbCFO

  • It's mid-year review time. You NEED to know what story the numbers are telling now, not six months ago.

You know that feeling when you look up and realize the year is already halfway over? ...Yeah, it just happened. You start the year with goals, a budget, a plan, maybe even a few big projects you were excited about. Then real life showed up. A team member left. Sales moved faster, or slower, than expected. Expenses crept up. A new opportunity came out of nowhere. The plan you made in January suddenly doesn’t quite fit July. That doesn’t mean the plan was bad. It means it’s time to pause, look honestly at what’s changed, and decide what needs attention before the rest of the year runs away from you. This is why mid-year reviews matter. You NEED to know what story the numbers are telling now, not six months ago. #MidYearReview #FinancialClarity #BusinessPlanning #Leadership #WebbCFO

  • One of the most common compliance mistakes we see isn't intentional. It's worker misclassification. Many business owners assume that if someone wants to be paid as a contractor, that's enough. Unfortunately, that's not how the IRS or employment regulators see it. The classification depends on the actual working relationship. Ask yourself: ✔️ Who controls how, when, and where the work is performed? ✔️ Who provides the tools, equipment, and resources? ✔️ Does the worker serve multiple clients, or primarily work for your business? ✔️ Is the work a core part of your company's operations? Getting this wrong can lead to significant tax liabilities, penalties, and employment law issues. As your team grows, it's worth reviewing your classifications to make sure they're still aligned with the reality of how your business operates. A quick review today can prevent a very expensive problem tomorrow. #BusinessCompliance #HumanResources #BusinessOperations #Leadership #RiskManagement #WebbCFO

  • FYI for all QuickBooks Payroll users—this is a small update worth knowing about. QuickBooks recently shared that employees will soon be able to update their own direct deposit information through QuickBooks Workforce. For employers, there’s no action needed, and this won’t change how you run payroll. It just means employees may be able to make those updates themselves without notifying the employer first. This is mostly an FYI, but it’s the kind of thing that’s helpful to know before it causes confusion. If you use QuickBooks Payroll, it may be worth making sure the person who oversees payroll is aware of the change. Small system updates can create big questions when no one sees them coming! #QuickBooksPayroll #PayrollUpdate #BusinessOwners #PracticeManagement #WebbCFO

  • Proud of our founder, Sarah Elliott Webb, for stepping into the role of CFO with CureNet Research, a national organization focused on supporting physician-led research through training, mentorship, and technology. And to all our amazing clients, be assured that Sarah's work and commitment to Webb CFO and you is not changing. If anything, this expands the perspective we bring to the table! Sarah will continue to work directly with our clients, our team is growing, and our focus remains exactly where it’s always been—helping physician owners build financially strong, well-run businesses.

If you’ve followed my work for a while, you know I spend a lot of my time helping physician owners build strong, financially sound practices. Over the past several months, I’ve had the opportunity to get even more involved in the healthcare space! I’m excited to share that, in addition to my work in Webb CFO, I’ve stepped into the role of CFO with CureNet Research, a national organization focused on supporting physician-led research through training, mentorship, and technology. This work is a natural extension of what I’ve been doing for years with physician-owned practices. I’ve always believed that when physicians have the right financial infrastructure and support, they can build stronger, more sustainable businesses. CureNet is working toward that same goal, just in a different part of the ecosystem. To be very clear, my work and commitment to Webb CFO and our clients is not changing. If anything, this expands the perspective I bring to the table. I’m continuing to work directly with our clients, our team is growing, and our focus remains exactly where it’s always been, helping physician owners build financially strong, well-run businesses. I’ll be sharing more about CureNet and the work they’re doing in the research space, especially as it connects to private practices and long-term growth. If you’re in that world or curious about where research is headed, it’s something worth paying attention to.

  • Tax season may be over, but some of the most important financial decisions for your practice are just beginning!

I'm taking a (very) brief pause from conference content because this topic came up more than once in conversations at CureNet Research and Consortium of Independent Immunology Clinics (CIIC), and it’s one worth talking about. Post-tax season, growth and wealth-building are top of mind for a lot of practice owners. But one thing I see over and over is this, growth in private practice isn’t just about making more money. It’s about making smarter financial decisions with the money you already have and the opportunities in front of you. From banking relationships and financing options to private equity, debt structure, and long-term wealth planning, there’s a lot for physicians to navigate. And one of the biggest mistakes I see is moving too quickly without slowing down to ask the right questions first. After working with dozens of clients, I’ve seen what works, what doesn’t, and the questions you need to ask. Check out my perspective in the full blog post here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gNGWETF2
