This week Voxworks was live at Customer Contact Week Australia and New Zealand talking to contact centre execs about the state of AI voice in Australian B2C comms at the enterprise level. A few themes emerged from the hundreds of conversations we had with the managers on the front lines of contact. First, lots of interest in AI voice and what Voxworks is doing to improve the overall voice experience and push the boundaries. We didn't hear any real case studies of true AI voice being deployed in Australia yet but it's coming!! Most AI solutions are being used internally to surface useful context for human agents (these will also be relevant systems for AI voice agents). We heard many stories of frustration with vendors putting a voice layer over the top of existing chatbot solutions (horrible UX), or offshore vendors placing AI voice into local workflows and experiencing huge latency. Many executives still don't understand AI voice can now perform at the level of natural human conversation. Most people still think of AI voice as Siri or Alexa circa 2015. We predict that won't be the case next year.. Another theme was the demand for multi-lingual solutions, reflecting the multicultural diversity of Australia and the huge role contact centres play in processing, training and employing people from all nations. We'll have more to say on multi-linguistics in Voxworks in the coming weeks. Overall it was a useful and insightful event, AI being a key theme in all the panel discussions, and operators are keeping a close eye on what's coming 👀 Andrew D'Ambrosio Jared Buncombe

Everyone knows Ferrari, but only true car enthusiasts have ever heard of Mansory. Mansory is the world’s leading tuning house. They take stock models from the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Mercedes, and rebuild them into the most glamorous, extreme and high performance machines on the planet. Their reputation is such that their creations often cost 1.5-3x what the base car cost. And that is if you have a few million to spare. So why are we talking about Mansory? In the next few weeks we’ll be releasing a series of insights that provide a glimpse into some of the recent work we’ve done at Voxworks. AI Voice is like an exotic car, you have to know how to tune each of the components to get the most out of the machine. Mansory doesn’t build its own engines. By the same token, Voxworks doesn’t train foundational models. But the model is only part of the equation. Sometimes the small tweaks and tricks in how you handle them make all the difference. And the beauty of this approach is that a model becomes redundant as soon as a superior model is released, but the proprietary tuning techniques we use to orchestrate them remain consistent. So whilst others may try to use the same models (although we’ll never tell!), they’ll never beat the speed and accuracy of a Voxworks™ voice engine 🤫
