Ireland’s Whole of Government Circular Economy Strategy 2026–2028 is now live (link below). Good to see a continued push toward 2030 targets, particularly around WEEE — an area where the gap between policy ambition and operational capability has historically been quite real. The strategy highlights the challenge of LCD waste in Ireland and references Votechnik’s approach using automation and robotics to address it. This inclusion follows earlier work with Circuleire (Ireland’s circular economy platform), whose survey and case study work fed into the development of the strategy. Encouraging to see practical, deployed solutions being reflected in national policy — that’s where circular economy starts to become tangible. https://lnkd.in/gkvGVJsK #CircularEconomy #WEEE #circuleire #ResourceRecovery #Automation #Ireland

♻️🤖 Robotics tackles hazardous LCD waste with KR QUANTEC deployment February 26, 2026 — Automation is stepping into one of recycling’s most hazardous streams: LCD electronic waste. Irish technology company Votechnik has launched the ALR-4000, an automated depollution system built around the KR QUANTEC from KUKA Robotics. ⚠️ The system is designed to dismantle LCD screens and monitors containing mercury, liquid crystals and sharp-edged components — materials that pose serious risks to human health during manual processing. 📺 Rising volumes, rising risks With an estimated 200 million LCD TVs sold globally each year, end-of-life treatment is becoming increasingly complex. Mercury-containing backlights and hidden greenhouse gases used in manufacturing add to the environmental burden if devices are improperly handled. The ALR-4000 automates the extraction of hazardous gases and removal of fragile components inside a sealed processing cell. Integrated carbon block filters prevent the release of toxic emissions, while robotics eliminate direct worker exposure. 🚀 1,200% productivity increase According to the companies, the automated system increases throughput from five units per hour in manual processes to up to 60 units per hour. Continuous 24/7 operation further improves efficiency while maintaining consistent process control. The KR QUANTEC robot provides the payload capacity and repeatability required to handle diverse LCD configurations, including units with more than 150 screws and multiple fastening systems. Its modular design also reduces maintenance requirements and operating costs. 🔄 Enabling circular electronics By safely separating hazardous elements and recovering valuable materials, the system supports the transition toward circular electronics management. With global deployment planned and international service support in place, the ALR-4000 represents a scalable approach to high-throughput e-waste depollution. Dr. Lisa Maria T. O'Donoghue, founder and CEO of Votechnik, states: "The whole world is moving to-wards a circular economy, and Europe is leading the way with initiatives such as the Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan. Such initiatives are urgently needed to recover materials from the products we currently use and lead them back into circulari-ty." #EWaste #Robotics #CircularEconomy #RecyclingInnovation #Automation #ElectronicsRecycling #Sustainability #CircularEconomyNews

♻️ Turning E-Waste into Opportunity: The Power of Robotic Recycling 🤖🌍 The rise of consumer electronics has brought convenience but also a mounting waste crisis. With only 44% of electronics in the EU recycled, the rest ends up in landfills, releasing harmful emissions and losing valuable materials like gold, silver, and copper. 💔 Votechnik, a proud member of CIRCULÉIRE is leading the charge with its ALR4000 robotic system. This game-changing tech automates the safe depollution of LCDs found in laptops, TVs, and tablets, removing hazardous components like mercury lamps and sharp-edged screens. ⚙️💡 Processing up to 80 devices per hour, the ALR4000 boosts efficiency, safety, and compliance with EU WEEE standards. It’s already transforming Ireland’s recycling landscape by handling 80% of LCDs domestically and keeping valuable materials in circulation. 🇮🇪🔁 From EV batteries to wind turbines, robotic recycling is gaining momentum across Europe. Votechnik’s innovation proves that automation can unlock circular value, reduce emissions, and create new revenue streams. 💰🌱 Let’s invest in solutions that protect our planet and power a sustainable future. 🌐💚 🔗 Check out the full case study linked below: https://lnkd.in/eWEMUqzC About CIRCULÉIRE CIRCULÉIRE, Ireland's First Cross-Sectoral Circular Manufacturing and Innovation Network, is designed and led by Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) and funded by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment (DCEE). It is a dynamic, cross-sectoral public-private network dedicated to advancing circularity in Ireland.
