  • Big news for the Dark Side franchise! We are thrilled to take home two wins at the Canadian Screen Awards, celebrating what has become one of VICE’s most iconic factual series: 🏆 Best Factual Series – Dark Side of the Ring 🏆 Best Original Music, Factual/Lifestyle/Reality/Entertainment – Dark Side of the Cage, (composition by Nikhil Seetharam). At its core, this franchise succeeds because it challenges convention. It looks past the bright lights and the characters to tell the deeply human, often tragic, and ultimately resilient stories of icons trying to balance real life with the spectacle of professional wrestling. But the story continues! We just dropped the trailer for Dark Side of the Ring Season 7! Check it out and catch the premiere on July 7th on VICE TV. Season 7 goes deeper than ever with a three-part odyssey into TNA through the eyes of Jeff Jarrett, in-depth profiles of classic stars Paul Orndorff and Big Boss Man, and a gripping breakdown of the violent clash between Samoa Joe and Necro Butcher. A massive thank you to the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television | l’Académie canadienne du cinéma et de la télévision, our co-creators Evan Husney and Jason Eisener, our partners at Bell Media’s Crave, our composers (Andrew Gordon Macpherson - Dark Side of the Ring, Nikhil Seetharam - Dark Side of the Cage) and the incredible VICE Studios team, crew, insiders, and viewers who make this franchise possible. Grab your popcorn and let’s go!! 📺 🍿

  • VICE News lives to tell the story, and as our CEO Adam Stotsky put it, we're going back to our roots.  Read his take in his post below. Last week, our Editor-In-Chief Shane Smith and a small crew were on the ground in Tehran. Gaining access inside one of the most restricted countries on the planet is no simple feat, yet our team went to report on what's unfolding firsthand and hear directly from the people who live there. Both Shane and Channel 5’s Andrew Callaghan took to the streets of Tehran, capturing perspectives from ordinary Iranian citizens that rarely make it into Western coverage. Shane also sat down with Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei, for a wide-ranging interview covering nuclear accusations, the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions, and the growing fear of a wider war. Watch the full interview on VICE News YouTube or listen on your podcast platform of choice. Our team is safely home, and will be posting new content all week, including a rare profile of the underground creator behind Iran’s viral Lego-style AI propaganda videos - a strange new figure in modern information war, blending memes, AI, music, and geopolitical messaging for a global audience. This is just the beginning of a whole lot more for VICE News, building on our recent coverage from Morocco for African Lion 2026, the largest military exercise on the African continent. Check out Shane's report from Tehran on MS Now’s "Morning Joe" and stay with our continued coverage across VICE News YouTube, Instagram, X, TikTok, and our newly launched VICENews.com Substack.  [Links in comments below].

The OG Creator, Shane Smith is back out in the field, reporting live from Iran. VICE News has always stood for powering independent fearless journalism - it is what has and continues to make our brand so resonant with audiences across the globe.  When VICE News first launched in 2013, we quickly became known around the world as a home for immersive, non-traditional reporting. We pioneered creator journalism – even though we didn’t have a name for it then.  Now we are going back to our roots and building a new, contributor-led initiative to serve today’s hyper-connected, extremely online news consumers. We are a home for a range of voices and perspectives - we will combine traditional reporting rigor with creator journalists who bring their own points of view and platforms. We want to present the facts and empower our audiences to draw their own conclusions. We’re looking to tell stories that impact the globe from a neutral reporting view, we strive to be centrist and sane, letting our audiences decide the takeaway.  VICE News is a multiplatform engine driving social and digital-first storytelling, delivering the substantive and thought-provoking reporting and analysis that has defined the brand for over 20 years to modern audiences around the world. #OneVICE VICE Media

Soccer Belongs to Everyone: VICE Brings Soccer’s American Dream Alive Soccer wasn’t built by leagues. It was built by communities before it ever was on prime time. There’s no shortage of soccer content, docs, and events right now leading into the World Cup. Yet when VICE Studios and VICE TV, set out to make “Soccer’s American Dream,” we weren’t chasing the moment, we were honoring the communities who actually built it. Our six-part docuseries, which premiered last week on VICE TV, tells the story of how the beautiful game found its soul in America. Unlike other docs, we don’t just cover the men’s game, we explore how pivotal the women’s game was to the sport’s identity in this country. This series is just the beginning. We’re continuing to bring it to life with the brands, voices, and communities who live and breathe soccer year round, check out some of what's next: ⚽ THE VICE CUP — Saturday, May 16 @ Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 2 In partnership with The Footy League, we’re celebrating the everyday people who've made soccer what it is in this country. A tournament, food trucks, custom merch, music, and a whole lot of community energy. Come join us. 📖 THE ZINE — In partnership with CLUBELEVEN, we explored the vast, vibrant NYC soccer landscape — spotlighting the diverse communities and individuals who embody the American Dream in their own unique ways. Grab your copy at the #VICECup this weekend. 👕  SOCCERTES — This collab has a story. Clive Toye helped put soccer on the map in America as GM of the New York Cosmos in the 1970s (👀 can you spot him in our doc?). His grandson has now partnered with us on custom jerseys that bridge that legacy with today's football culture. More to come on this front… Big shoutout to the excellent creative coming from our team at VIRTUE Worldwide and for the collabs in full swing across our VICE ecosystem. (Episode two of “Soccer’s American Dream” airs tonight at 10p ET, link to Episode 1 on our YouTube in the comments)

VICE TV & VICE Studios “Dark Side of the Ring” is back.  As exclusively reported in Variety, the acclaimed docuseries returns for its most ambitious season yet. Premiering July 7, the season opens with a three-part investigation into the legacy of Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling and co-founder Jeff Jarrett documenting the grit and resilience behind the company’s volatile years. Additional episodes in Season 7 will tell the stories of wrestlers like Paul Orndorff, Ray “The Big Boss Man” Traylor, and Missy Hyatt. There will also be episodes devoted to the infamous match between Necro Butcher and Samoa Joe, one-legged wrestler Zach Gowen, and Rick Wilson, an exotic dancer who had a brief run as Ultimate Warrior knockoff The Renegade. Built on the raw exposition that defines the franchise, the new episodes examine the blurred lines between wrestling’s spectacle and its reality. “’Dark Side of the Ring’ is one of our strongest franchises that speaks to our audience with its gritty exposition of the real emotional and physical costs behind professional wrestling,” said VICE TV President Peter Gaffney. Dark Side of the Ring | Season 7 Produced by VICE Studios in partnership with Bell Media’s Crave. Creators: Evan Husney & Jason Eisener Executive Producers: Guillermo Garcia (VICE Studios) & Lee Hoffman (VICE TV)

VICE NEWS AND ADOBE ACROBAT GIVE AUDIENCES A NEW WAY TO STEP INSIDE THE STORY REPORTING ON-THE-GROUND FROM THE BIGGEST WAR GAME IN AFRICAN HISTORY Our VICE News team is on the ground in Morocco, embedded with more than 5,600 troops and U.S. paratroopers conducting drills at Cap Draa at African Lion 2026, the largest annual military exercise on the African continent with more than 40 nations in attendance. Shane Smith and the team are there to report on this year's defining showcase: AI-enabled command and control, warfare autonomous systems, counter-drone capabilities, and advanced surveillance and reconnaissance platforms. To make sense of the enormous volume of documents, data, and source material coming in from the U.S. Africa Command and our own team’s research in the field, VICE News has partnered with Adobe Acrobat and their new PDF Spaces capabilities. Using PDF Spaces in Acrobat, our team can synthesize and interrogate hundreds of pages of planning, scenario, and research documents on the fly – helping our reporters stay accurate, move fast, and make smart decisions about what to cover. When we publish a finished story for our audience, we can also share the documents, research and source materials with our audience, giving them the ability to explore the evidence, ask their own questions and engage with the story on a deeper level. This delivers exactly the radical type of transparency that audiences demand today. Speaking from Tan-Tan, Morocco, VICE Founder and VICE News Editor-In-Chief Shane Smith said: "Now more than ever, audiences need transparent, fact-based, nonpartisan journalism. And as we build VICE News for a new generation, we’re proud to partner with Adobe Acrobat and take our audience even further into the story.” Check out some of our reporting in the video below. The link to the VICE News African Lion PDF Spaces - the first of an ongoing series - is in the comments. Are you ready to step inside the story with us?

  • VICE Studios x Anika Jade Levy: Bringing ‘Flat Earth’ to the screen. We are thrilled to announce that VICE Studios has secured the television adaptation rights to Flat Earth, the breakout debut novel from National Book Foundation “5 Under 35” honoree, Anika Jade Levy. Flat Earth is a raw, darkly funny portrait of two best friends, Avery and Frances, navigating a New York City that rewards "curatorial taste" and discards women the moment they age out of a pleated skirt. It’s a story of transactional relationships, nationwide Adderall shortages and the quest to become the voice of a generation. As Anika puts it: “VICE has a high tolerance for risk and knows audiences are smarter than they’re often treated. I’m thrilled to bring this world to television with a team that understands both its satire and its emotional stakes.” Read the full story exclusively in Variety below, we can’t wait to get started. 🌍📺
