  • ☀️ Keep your space comfortable while saving energy this summer! Small changes can make a big difference. Try these simple tips to lower cooling costs, improve efficiency, and reduce energy waste: 💡 Adjust your thermostat — raise temperatures during unoccupied hours and use a smart thermostat to automate savings. 🪟 Block the heat — use blinds, shades, or window film to keep direct sunlight out and reduce AC strain. 🔧 Check your filters — replace air filters monthly to help your HVAC system run efficiently. 🚪 Seal the gaps — weatherize doors, windows, and ducts to keep cool air inside. ⏰ Shift energy use — reduce on-peak usage from 4–9 pm by adjusting temperatures, dimming lights, or moving non-essential tasks to off-peak hours. • 800,000 San Diegans are food insecure, lacking reliable access to adequate food. A challenge this big takes incredible partnership. Last week, UWSD's Rachael Orose and Monica Gereda visited Casey Castillo and the team at the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. Beyond touring their remarkably efficient facilities (including a food digester that turns expired food into compost), the visit was a chance to think big about the future. The San Diego Food Bank supports over 400,000 people every month, and we're proud to stand alongside them. Together, we're exploring how to invest in our community to support families in an increasingly expensive region and help them build long-term financial security.
