We’re excited to share that Hannaford Supermarkets in Rockland has selected our friends and partners at COASTAL FAMILY HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS (CFHV) to benefit from their Community Bag Program during July! This program not only promotes sustainability by reducing plastic waste but also provides a meaningful opportunity to grow awareness and support for our mission within the community. Here’s how it works: For every $2.50 reusable Community Bag purchased at the Hannaford in Rockland located at 75 Maverick St $1 is directed to CFHV. It’s that simple, and it adds up fast. Each bag purchased is a small action that helps us to provide caring companions to the dying, comfort to grieving family and friends, and education and support to our volunteers. Our friends as Coastal Recovery Community Center are looking for board members. See their note below: We are reaching out to the local community in hopes of finding interested people to join the Board of Directors of Coastal Recovery Community Center. We are a grassroots 501c3 and our mission is to provide a safe, welcoming environment where people can find information, resources, support, fellowship and hope at any point in their journey to recovery and wellness. We are looking for members with compassionate insight regarding the world of recovery and maintaining wellness. CRCC is looking to recruit five to seven new board members. Each new member would bring a unique set of skills to the group as we are hoping to have members who are knowledgeable in diverse areas of the nonprofit environment. Board member roles include giving guidance to shape CRCC's future, participate in fund raising and tabling events as well as be a voice in the community. In particular, new board members will give us the ability to achieve our goals and organizational initiatives. Being a board member will provide you with an opportunity to help within your local area. Members are asked to be a CRCC advocate within the community as well as attend scheduled board meetings. Such meetings are held on the second Friday of the month at 11 White St in Rockland. A hybrid model of an in person and virtual meeting is often used. Our friends at the Restorative Justice Project announced that their ED is stepping down by the end of the year. They're looking for the new leader for this organization and want to get candidates as soon as possible for a smooth succession. Salary Range: $115,000 - $140,000 - depending upon qualifications and experience. Benefits: A generous benefits package is available. One of the things that makes United Midcoast Charities’ grant review process different is who has a seat at the table. Each year, we engage community volunteers and local high school students to read and review grant applications alongside our committee members. We believe strong funding decisions require both lived community perspective and insight from the next generation. Our process is also designed to be fair and transparent. When reviewers identify questions, inconsistencies, or areas that need clarification, applicants are given the opportunity to respond before decisions are made. We don’t believe nonprofits should be judged on misunderstandings or assumptions, we believe they are applying to be our partners. This year, UMC received 52 grant applications. As part of our due diligence process, we will also conduct site visits with 18 nonprofit organizations, including new applicants, organizations with leadership changes, and agencies we have not visited within the past two years. Thoughtful philanthropy requires more than reading applications. It requires listening, asking questions, and understanding the real work happening behind the numbers.
