Trakking is a digital platform for sourcing, managing, and returning empty shipping line containers.

About us

Trakking is a digital platform for sourcing, managing, and returning empty shipping line containers. The platform replaces outdated shipping processes, and increases the reliability and predictability of empty containers. Trakking integrates three services under one platform: 1) Empty Container Release Drayage dispatchers can login to Trakking 24/7 and see real-time empty container levels at various terminals and depots through a green, yellow, and red signal system. With Trakking, they can request empty containers releases and get automatic approvals. 2) Street Turn The Trakking platform offers drayage companies the ability to request empty container reuse or street turns. We ensure a response will be provided within 5 minutes - a significant improvement from previous industry processes that could take up to a few hours. 3) Empty Container Return Each shipping line has their own system for advising drayage companies on when and where to return empty containers. Trakking streamlines this often-challenging process for dispatchers, helping them determine where to return empty containers at any given location. • Thanks to Trakking's CEO Patrick Lo for representing us at IANA last week and this excellent report on the learnings, challenges, and opportunities coming out of this important conference. Now active in the US, our platforms bring increased efficiency, improved access to information, and reductions in CO2 emissions as part of our mission to drive innovation through people-centric technologies within intermodal and trucking industries. Reach out today to learn how Trakking can transform your logistics operations.

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Intermodal Association of North America Expo in Los Angeles — the largest gathering in North America focused on intermodal, rail, trucking, and technology in freight. This felt like a critical conference to attend in a time of real uncertainty in global trade. With the ongoing tariffs and trade shifts, shipments into the U.S. are expected to decline in the coming years. Companies are investing in U.S. manufacturing, but building new factories will take time. That raises pressing questions for those of us in logistics, among them: • Will U.S. intermodal volumes increase as supply chains adjust and more products are moving within the United States? • What impact will the recent Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific Railroad announcements have on the future of rail transport? • How is technology being applied in intermodal and trucking in ways that Canada can learn from? Most importantly, since our company Trakking is now launched in the U.S., we are keen to explore how our approach to providing support and efficiency might shape the intermodal industry. Beyond these issues, I was happy that significant attention was given to cargo theft — a problem that has escalated since COVID from being opportunistic to highly organized crime. A very big thank you to Anne Reinke President of IANA, for her leadership on this issue, and to Cathy Gautreaux from the U.S. Department of Transportation, who are working to bring proper federal attention to finding solutions. Hearing from Anne Milgram, former Drug Enforcement Administration Administrator, reminded me that supply chain security – which of course is essential for the safe transport of everyday necessities – is also tied to broader issues that relate to social wellbeing, such as the fight against fentanyl smuggling, which is not just a border issue but also an issue with deep impact on the lives of many Canadians and Americans. And of course, no IANA would be complete without insights from Lars Jensen on global trade. He sees challenging times ahead for the maritime industry. We will need to prepare for more blank sailings, continued uncertainty with tariffs, and a lack of investments globally. For me, this conference wasn’t just about downloading information. It was about connecting the dots between policy, security, rail, trucking, and technology — and thinking about how Canada’s supply chain must adapt in the years ahead.

  • 🚚📦Empowering Smarter Container Moves – Together with ZIM Line Canada🌎⚓ Since early 2025, Trakking has been proud to partner with ZIM Line Canada to make container reuse and street turn applications simpler, faster, and more accessible for our customers. This collaboration has opened up new opportunities—especially on the West Coast, where the trucking community has embraced the convenience of streamlined workflows. We’ve been encouraged by the positive feedback we’ve received: ✨“Trakking has made it easier for us—especially since they offer multiple platforms we can use based on our needs.” By bridging technology with operational flexibility, we're making a meaningful impact—reducing empty miles, improving turnaround time, and helping the environment one container at a time. 🙏🏽Thank you to the ZIM team for the trust, and to all the trucking partners who continue to support innovation in logistics. More exciting updates to come. #Trakking #ZIMLine #StreetTurn #EmptyContainerReuse #LogisticsInnovation #Sustainability #TruckingCommunity #SupplyChainSimplified #CanadaLogistics #WestCoastTrucking

  • With our Street Turn module now being used across Canada — from Vancouver to Halifax, and major cities in between — we are thrilled to see yearly increases in CO2 emissions reductions and kilometres saved! 👉🏾🧮20,800s kgs of CO2 saved from April 2024 to March 2025 👉🏾🧮115,560 kms saved in the same period 👉🏾🧮Average of 40 kms saved per container reused As we feel the devastating effects of climate change in massive forest fires and sweltering temperatures, we believe reduction in CO2 emissions must be an urgent priority for the logistics industry. With the added time savings and resultant productivity gains, Trakking technology is a clear win for both the environment and your company’s bottom-line.👍🏽 Are you ready to take the next step in eco-friendly efficiency?
