In a new interview with CNBC, incoming CEO Brad Diephuis shared where the company goes next, why scaling and better care aren't in tension, how AI can power a genuinely proactive model of cancer care, and what stays constant as we grow: an unwavering focus on the people we serve. The conversation comes as Thyme Care is named to CNBC's Disruptor 50, No. 18 on this year's list of the most innovative private companies. It's recognition of a model built to change how people experience cancer, one that aligns the patient, the oncologist, and the health plan around the same goal so no one navigates cancer alone, especially in the moments between appointments when support matters most. As Brad puts it, this next chapter is more of a step change than a pivot. It builds on the foundation co-founders Robin Shah and Bobby Green, M.D., laid six years ago, a model that works, and now reaches more people with cancer than ever. He will continue to partner with Bobby on Thyme Care's next chapter while workin closely with Robin as he focuses on launching new verticals across oncology, driving even more impact back to our core business https://lnkd.in/g3SUb2CP

Robin Shah's vision continues to shape how Thyme Care works to make oncology more connected, effective, and patient-centered. We’re proud of the impact so far and even more energized by what’s ahead.
As I told citybiz: "The next era of oncology won't be defined by a single breakthrough. It will be defined by how well the ecosystem works together on behalf of patients." That's the whole idea behind Thyme Care, and why we see an even bigger opportunity to address more breaking points in oncology. I’ve been working in oncology for nearly 20 years and we collectively plan to disrupt the entire space to make it more effective for patients and physicians. When we started, the system asked people to navigate cancer alone, with the responsibility for what happened to them split across so many parties that no one was connecting the dots. So we rebuilt it. We aligned the patient, the oncologist, and the health plan around the same goal, and today that shows up in real terms for 125,000 people navigating cancer. There are more of those breaking points, and they're what I'm focused on as Executive Chairman. Drug affordability, where too many people can't afford the treatment they're prescribed. Access to clinical trials, where the right option too often never reaches the person who needs it. Each one is its own broken system. Each one can be rebuilt the same way we rebuilt navigation, by getting everyone who touches a person's care working together instead of around each other. https://lnkd.in/eEAccBgX

When we first partnered with Thyme Care, the thesis was simple: cancer care doesn't break down in the exam room. It breaks down in the spaces between, the weeks between visits, the handoffs, the gap between what payers cover and what patients need. Six years later, Thyme Care supports more than 125,000 people living with cancer and has made value-based oncology real rather than theoretical. Today the company announced that Robin Shah is moving to Executive Chairman, with former President Brad Diephuis stepping into the CEO role. As Executive Chairman, Robin will lead Thyme Care’s expansion into new areas that include drug affordability and clinical trial access, with help from AI and automation. Brad’s elevation to CEO of Thyme Care brings to the role what this next chapter demands: a physician's understanding of care delivery, a policy expert's grasp of how the system is built, and a cancer survivor's knowledge of what patients actually carry. Few leaders are better prepared to extend a proven model to the many patients still waiting for it. We look forward to continuously supporting the Thyme Care team to accelerate access to high quality cancer care. - David Whelan and the Town Hall Team
Stepping down means stepping up! I've never been more energized about the future of Thyme Care. As I shift into the role of Executive Chairman, I'll dedicate my full-time focus to launching new business lines across the oncology ecosystem, while staying closely connected to the value-based care business we've built. As Amy Feldman shared in her Forbes article, we truly found our "Steve Ballmer" in Brad Diephuis. And we have. It’s rare for a founder/CEO to find someone with similar mission, vision, and values alignment. That confidence is what allows me to turn my focus to what comes next. The article also addresses the question every CEO transition raises: is something wrong? No. This is a transition from a position of strength. Our business is changing lives, profitable, and growing rapidly. We're supporting more patients than ever. And real leadership means making bold moves when things are working. I'm eager to share more news in the coming months about the business lines we'll be launching and how they will improve the experience for patients, providers, and our plan partners. https://lnkd.in/eTcSiNH5

Thyme Care started with a simple observation. In a world with more breakthrough cancer therapies than ever, too many of the things that matter to patients were still broken, especially in the moments between visits. So we built the connective tissue the system was missing, aligning payers, providers, and patients around a single goal, the health of the person in the center. Now we're ready to widen our reach across the cancer journey. We’re announcing a series of leadership changes built to scale what works and take on the biggest remaining breakpoints in cancer care. ▶️ Our co-founder Robin Shah transitions to the newly formed role of executive chairman, where he’ll devote his full focus to launching new business lines that build on our patient, provider, and payer footprint, while continuing to oversee the core business. Robin, along with Bobby Green, M.D., built Thyme Care from an idea into a company reshaping how cancer care works in this country, and he now turns that same vision to the biggest unsolved problems in oncology. ▶️ Brad Diephuis, our president and chief operating officer, has been promoted to chief executive officer. Brad brings a rare combination to the role, a physician who has treated patients, a policy expert who understands how the system is built, and a cancer survivor who has lived the experience from the other side. No one is better positioned to lead what comes next. ▶️ Co-founder Bobby Green, M.D. continues as president and chief medical officer. A medical oncologist who spent years in community oncology, Bobby understands the cancer experience from both sides of the exam room, what patients carry and what clinical teams face every day. He leads our clinical strategy and the product and AI work behind it, making sure everything we build reflects how care actually happens. ▶️ We also welcomed Marcia Harms Macphearson as chief operating officer in June, bringing the operational depth to scale what we've built. What excites us most about this new leadership structure is that none of this changes our mission to ensure every person with cancer receives the highest quality care. This team is built to accelerate that work, for our partners and for every individual navigating cancer who deserves better. Read the full announcement here: https://lnkd.in/gRjVAD5f

I am humbled to share today that I will be transitioning into the role of CEO at Thyme Care. It is a privilege I am deeply grateful for, and one I approach with a profound sense of responsibility. Robin Shah is a visionary, a true zero-to-one builder who saw this company before it existed. What he, Bobby, and every person at Thyme Care have built over the past six years is remarkable. We have created a sustainable model that improves outcomes for patients, integrates with providers and drives consistent cost savings for payers. We are making lives better every day for people going through cancer treatment. My own path here was anything but straightforward. At 21, I was diagnosed with an advanced form of osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer. After a dozen cycles of chemotherapy and four surgeries, I came away with one conviction that has never left me: we have extraordinary clinicians and life-saving therapies, and yet so much of the actual cancer care journey can still be better. Having the opportunity to address that at Thyme Care has been the highlight of my professional career. What excites me most is our team. More than 800 people come to work at Thyme Care every day driven by the same purpose: to make things better for people going through cancer. Over the last four years, I’ve watched their work make Thyme Care available to more than 125,000 people living with cancer, and I’ve had the privilege of seeing the impact behind those numbers through the patients and families we serve. We have proven that our model works, and now we have the opportunity to extend that impact even further. As Robin shifts his focus to launching new business lines, we will continue partnering to expand our impact for every person who deserves an improved experience with cancer than the system provides today. My heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been involved in our journey to date. Onward! https://lnkd.in/gvkuuRjH
