I am so excited to announce that I have been re-elected as Editor-in-Chief of The News Record at the University of Cincinnati for the 2026–27 school year! I am deeply honored that the staff and Communications Board trusted my leadership enough to hold this position again. Being Editor-in-Chief this past year has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my academic career. To be able to lead a newsroom filled with students who, like myself, are passionate about independent student journalism and amplifying the voices of others is incredibly meaningful. It is a crucial time to be in journalism, but from what I have seen this past year, I am confident that the students who walk into our newsroom every day are doing amazing work. While doing an interview about my re-election for our website, I learned that this is the first consecutive term for an Editor-in-Chief in nearly a century at The News Record. That was an immense honor to discover, and it makes me even more committed to continuing the strong tradition of student journalism at UC. A huge thank you to Jenny Wohlfarth, our editorial advisor and a mentor of mine since I first started contributing at TNR. Jenny, you have always been the biggest cheerleader for everyone in the newsroom and a guiding light for me, especially this past year as I navigated questions and challenges. None of this would have been possible without your support. A very special thank you as well to our TNR alumni whose footsteps I continue to follow. Rowan Hetzer, my previous news editor and dear friend, thank you for always believing in me and for being the reason I discovered my passion for news. Your enthusiasm, dedication and ability to inspire others have left a lasting impact on me and my leadership. Thank you to my fellow staff members and every contributor who motivates me to work even harder — and thank you to the student body. Our organization wouldn’t be possible without you. The stories we publish are for you, and I hope to continue amplifying voices on campus and sharing your stories. I look forward to continuing to establish The News Record as a trustworthy, independent source of news while leading with a commitment to listening to the needs of our campus community! I’m excited and grateful to share that I had the opportunity to be featured on the cover of the Fall 2025 Career Fair Guide published by The News Record, the independent student newspaper at the University of Cincinnati. As a freshman, it was an incredible experience to collaborate with the UC media team and be part of a project designed to help students prepare for internships, networking opportunities, and career fairs. I’m thankful to have worked alongside such a talented group of students and professionals who helped bring this publication to life. Opportunities like this remind me how valuable it is to get involved on campus and take advantage of the experiences available at UC. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow, connect with others, and explore new opportunities throughout my time here. Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible! Aswell I’d like to give a huge thank you to Ramatoulaye Diallo with The News Record for setting everything up!

It's hard to believe that I only have one more semester left at the University of Cincinnati! After an exciting fall semester, I am grateful for the experiences I gained and lessons I learned. After contributing the UC's student run newspaper for the past 2 years, I am excited to say that I am now the Features + Life and Arts Reporter for The News Record! Writing in depth stories for UC students is a joy and a privilege that I am excited to do for one more semester. I was very lucky to work as a Photo Intern for Cincinnati CityBeat for the past few months. From covering local news to concerts and sports, I got to see a new side of Cincinnati that made me love the city even more than I already did. Huge thank you to Ashley Moor and the rest of the CityBeat team for welcoming me with open arms and trusting me to report for the Cincinnati community. Take a look at some of my favorite moments I captured below! I also completed another semester working with UC College of Arts and Sciences as a Student Journalist. I feel so connected to my college after telling the stories of so many of its students, professors, alumni and faculty. Thank you so much to Anne Bowling for the past 7 months; it has absolutely been a highlight of my time at UC. After such an enriching experience, I'm excited to put the writing skills I gained to use this spring! I am open to work after graduating this May. I am excited to see what opportunities come my way!

As we near the end of the year, I want to take the time to reflect on what a challenging yet immensely rewarding year 2025 has been. Each opportunity and experience I have been presented with has enriched my life in so many ways. I have never been so appreciative of my peers and my network in supporting me throughout these ventures. In the spring, I launched my own photography business, looking to hone my skills not for profit, but for self-improvement. I got the chance to transform my hobby into a genuine pursuit, and I am beyond grateful to everyone who entrusted me with capturing some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. When summer rolled around, I started my part-time news reporting role. The summer taught me much about growth and tenacity, and truly transformed my outlook on newswriting. It was an absolute privilege to serve in an all-female newsroom and gain firsthand experience in all aspects of journalism. As I have returned for the winter break, I have been reminded of how important the work I get to do at the Logan-Hocking Times is, and how enriching it is to have my writing recognized in the community. With the start of the fall semester, I began many exciting opportunities. I began working at the Center for Student Involvement, started my role as a Portman Fellow with University of Cincinnati Portman Center for Policy Solutions, and started my work as the Development Director for the University of Cincinnati - University Honors Program Ambassador Team. Each gratifying and challenging in its own way, these experiences have shown me what it is to be a leader, and I want to thank all the staff for their guidance and support over the last few months, especially Lily Davenport and Emily Bauman. Also in the fall, I became a writing contributor for The News Record's news section, reporting on local Cincinnati politics, including the City Council race and the new congressional map. My favorite experience was being a part of an Election Night Vodcast alongside some of my talented peers, Chloe Hall and Joseph Carey. The vodcast can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/gzpdvEmb. Towards the end of the semester, I got to be a part of many wonderful events, such as the Braver Angels Civility Debate hosted by the Portman Center and Eugene Rutz. Furthermore, alongside Serene Tarabishi and Clare Graff, I got to research and create a public policy proposal titled “Combating Food Deserts and Their Health Implications: Ohio's Public Grocery Pilot Program.” Getting the chance to learn about and present on an issue so prevalent in Appalachia and so close to my heart was unlike any project I’ve done before. After celebrating a year of growth, I look forward to what 2026 has in store!
