David joins the company following senior marketing leadership roles at Marriott International, where he oversaw Global Creative, Internal Communications, and PR for Marriott Bonvoy. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Apple, leading product launches including iPhone 7 and Apple Watch, and worked at the Discovery Channel on major franchises such as Shark Week. David first discovered THEMAGIC5 as a customer and swimmer, experiencing the impact of custom-fit goggles firsthand. Why is it still so hard to find goggles that actually fit your face? That question ultimately led to the creation of THEMAGIC5. Our co-founder and CEO Rasmus Barfred, recently joined the Chief Endurance Officer Podcast to share the story behind the company. The idea began during triathlon training, when two friends-turned-co-founders shared the same frustration with one-size-fits-all goggles. The best advice at the time was to find the “least bad” pair and stick with them, which raised a larger question: why was that still the standard? For decades, swimmers have accepted an annoying reality: if you want to stop leaks, you tighten the straps. And when you tighten those straps, you get pressure, red marks, and distraction.
