Farah Al Qasimi’s public art installation ‘Homesickness’ is #OnView outside Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi as part of the Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial. On view from May 15 2026 📍Natural History Museum, Abu Dhabi, UAE Positioned around the museum, the work weaves together art, heritage and the natural world, linking Abu Dhabi’s pearl diving history with the landscapes and ecosystems explored inside the museum.   Comprising five large oyster sculptures with integrated sound and light ‘Homesickness’ draws on the UAE’s pearl diving heritage and reinterprets it through a contemporary artistic lens. As visitors approach the work, they encounter a physical and auditory installation in which concealed speakers emit a composition based on ‘Tob, Tob Ya Bahar,’ a chant sung by the wives of pearl divers. Rana Begum’s newly commissioned sculptural installation, ‘No. 1604 Mesh,’ is #OnView at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Wakehurst. On view until 23 May 2027 📍Kew Wakehurst, West Sussex, UK No.1604 Mesh, created for the Henry Moore and more exhibition, weaves industrial fencing with timber sourced from Wakehurst's trees into a zigzag form that traces the natural incline of The Paddock meadow. The piece sits in deliberate dialogue between the built and the organic—its palette drawn from the dogwood of Wakehurst's Winter Garden, shifting with the light and seasons to become something that changes as the landscape does. On view until 22 November 2026 📍Giardini della Biennale, Venice, Italy ‘DAMAR TV’ is a kaleidoscopic journey through the collapsing dreamworld of broadcast television, the haunted architecture of empire’s dreams, and the fragile possibility of finding a human voice again after silent catastrophe. The film follows Damar Darwish, a celebrated television journalist on the DMR News Network, whose career implodes after an on-air confrontation with a reality denier. Silenced, unemployable, and spiritually untethered, Damar drifts through a fractured landscape of newsrooms, ruins, national pavilions, musical encounters, bureaucratic nightmares, television memories, and impossible geographies both real and imagined—in search for meaning in an age where language itself has broken down. ‘untitled 2026 (a gathering of remarkable people)’ builds on artist Rirkrit Tiravanija’s practice of inviting collaborators to activate his architectural and spatial scenarios. In a tent-like structure designed by Tiravanija for Biennale Arte 2026, presentations spanning film, sculpture, live performances, and a culinary program by aritsts Al-Maria, Tarek Atoui, Alia Farid, Fadi Kattan are brought together to create a nourishing experience for audiences. On view until 22 November 2026 📍National Pavilion UAE, Arsenale — Sale d’Armi, Venice, Italy In her 'Majlis' (2009) series, artist Lamya Gargash positions the majlis—a room in traditional Emirati homes dedicated to welcoming guests—as a sonic gathering space that facilitates the social practice of hosting, listening, celebrating, grieving, and solving problems. Washwasha, an Arabic word for 'whispering,' is an onomatopoeia that describes sound at the very threshold of audibility: subtle forms of communication, background noise, and intangible sonic traces that risk going unnoticed. Taking this concept as a starting point, the exhibition explores themes of migration, technology, and oral histories. “Washwasha“ is curated by Bana Kattan, Curator and Associate Head of Exhibitions at the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Project, with Assistant Curator Tala Nassar. Farah Al Qasimi #OnView in ‘Greater New York 2026,’ a group exhibition at MoMA PS1. On view until 17 August 2026 📍MoMA PS1, Queens, NY, USA The sixth edition of MoMA PS1’s survey of artists living and working in the New York City area brings into focus over 50 multidisciplinary artists in the formative years of their careers. The exhibition emphasizes the forces that shape daily life in the city today, as well as strategies of resistance and adaptation in the face of increased surveillance, economic precarity, and shifting technologies. ‘Greater New York 2026’ registers an optimism and anxiety generated through artists’ attention to the layered, lived textures of New York City.
