Earlier this week, members of TTAB Youth Chapter had the privilege of joining industry leaders and NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng for an inspiring conversation on 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗜. With AI changing the way we live and work, are we living in the best of times or the worst of times? Paraphrasing Charles Dickens, Brother Ng posed this timeless question - one that resonated throughout the evening. We discussed the skills that will matter most in the years ahead, why cultivating a problem-solving mindset is more important than ever, what hiring managers are looking for in an age of AI, and how we can embrace new opportunities while navigating the challenges that come with rapid technological change. The future is not something that simply happens to us, or something that we walk into unawares... it is something we build together. AI will undoubtedly change the jobs we do, but it also has the potential to unlock new possibilities, amplify human creativity, and solve problems that once seemed impossible. The greatest advantage will belong not to those who fear change, but to those who remain curious, keep learning, and are willing to adapt. The future of work is being written today. TTAB is grateful to have been part of this conversation, and even more excited to see what the next generation will create. Feeling more and more like you missed the memo? You’re not alone. DevOps Singapore, in partnership with the TTAB CyberOps Chapter, recently hosted 𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘴, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘔𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘴 – 𝘈𝘐 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘯 2026. Attended by over 40 participants, the session highlighted how modern product development is no longer about typing the perfect prompt, but about using agentic AI to enable high-speed automation and faster innovation. From stories of solopreneurs and lean teams shipping products faster with AI agents, to replacing lengthy specifications with working prototypes, the evening showcased practical ways we are building at speed. 𝐁𝐫𝐲𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐫, COO of Side Fold Media Inc, shared practical insights into building smarter systems and accelerating development with agentic AI. Ideas were then brought to life through live demos by 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐰 who showed how Pixel AI and Crosspath AI Agents can help enterprises automate workflows with digital labour, and 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠 who introduced EdgeMaker, a platform that enhances community engagement and collaboration. On 25 June, Alibaba Cloud, together with NTUC, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), and Tech Talent AssemBly (TTAB), launched the first AI Upskilling Initiative at NTUC Centre. The programme, first announced at the Alibaba Cloud Qwen Conference, aims to equip over 1,000 enterprises, SMEs, developers, students, and workers with practical generative and agentic AI skills. The inaugural workshop brought together 100 participants from diverse industries, age groups, and experience levels. Using MuleRun, they built AI agents to automate workflows, analyse data, and solve real-world problems—proving that agentic AI is accessible to everyone, regardless of technical background. TTAB is proud to support this initiative alongside Alibaba Cloud, NTUC, and STT GDC, helping more people gain practical AI skills and confidence to thrive in an AI-driven future. The AI Upskilling Initiative will run monthly, with participants receiving a complimentary MuleRun subscription to continue learning beyond the workshop. Missed this session? Most of our Toastmasters themes from January to May 2026 were about AI. Which is mildly ironic, considering that the TTAB Toastmasters Club is dedicated to helping humans speak better. 🤖🎤 From Workday's 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘐 𝘌𝘳𝘢 to Rubrik's 𝘈𝘐 𝘓𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘺 𝘐𝘴 𝘕𝘰𝘸 𝘌𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 to 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩, TTAB Toastmasters discussed complex topics covering technology, leadership and inclusion—and then learned with Veeam that making things simple might be the most complex skill of all 😄. The biggest takeaway? AI can generate speeches. It can't own the room. While many business leaders talk about purpose, Arvin Tang, VP of TTAB, sees it as a practical business strategy rather than a corporate slogan. The founder and CEO of home-grown marketing and AI consultancy AKIN by Techlyon believes companies should be judged not only by the revenue they generate, but by the problems they help solve. “We have always believed that business can and should create impact beyond just profit,” he said. “Whether it is helping organisations grow, supporting social causes, or using technology and creativity to solve meaningful problems, we try our best to build with intention.” That belief has shaped the way Arvin runs AKIN, from commercial projects to social impact initiatives. One example was the Singapore Red Cross Blood Buddy Campaign in 2021, where AKIN used digital storytelling and community engagement to encourage blood donations. For Arvin, these efforts are an extension of a broader conviction about the role SMEs play in society. “Many SMEs in Singapore are doing hard, often unseen work every day,” he said. “They are creating jobs, taking risks, supporting communities, and quietly trying to make things a little better in their own way.” At a time when businesses face mounting economic pressures, Arvin remains convinced that profit and purpose are not opposing goals. Instead, he believes the most resilient businesses are often those that create value beyond their balance sheets — leaving an impact measured not just in dollars, but in the lives they touch.
