Indian Women Abroad disappeared from your inbox for a few months. In my defence, I got permanent residency, bought a house, my partner broke his hand, dealt with a car breakdown and a family health scare. Now I'm back. The latest Indian Women Abroad newsletter is out, along with a new podcast episode featuring Sonia Kaurah, founder of Tala Thrive. • A few weeks on and we're still thinking about this one 🧡 We were proud to be the evening partner for PMW's She-Suite Gala - a room full of migrant women backing each other, sharing honestly and taking up space. These are the conversations that matter to us: building workplaces and support systems that see people in full - their culture, their identity, their story. Thank you for having us 🧡

What an incredible evening of connection, inspiration and celebration! ✨ Last Friday, our PMW She-Suite Gala brought together our community of migrant women and ten remarkable C-suite leaders for an evening of honest conversations, meaningful connections and plenty of fun. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing C-suite leaders — Claire Ross, Claire Simpson, Heejung Cecilia Lim CA 임희정, Juanita Pope, Marilyn B., Rachel Thompson, Sarah Hardy GAICD, Dr. Selba Gondoza Luka OAM, Talei Richards and Zoe Pappas — for so generously sharing your time, experiences and leadership with our community. You helped create a space that was meaningful, fun and deeply inspiring. Some of the insights our community will take away from the evening include: ✨ Have the courage to back yourself and step into opportunities, even when they feel uncomfortable. ✨ Stay curious and keep learning throughout your career and life. ✨ Be audacious — don't be afraid to take up space, speak up and pursue opportunities that seem beyond your reach. ✨ Remember that leadership isn't about having all the answers. ✨ Invest in your wellbeing and make time to recharge. ✨ Seek mentors, and when the opportunity comes, pay it forward by mentoring others. ✨ Create space for reflection — for yourself and for your team. ✨ Make room for joy, adventure and experiences outside of work. ✨ Never forget that you matter and that you are valued and loved. This event would not have been possible without the support of so many incredible people and organisations: 💛 Our volunteer event team: Ovyakhshayaa Saravana Murugan, Kelly Fernandez and Carmen Monte 💛 Our key partner, JANA Investment Advisers, for supporting and believing in our work for four years in a row 💛 Our sponsors: City of Melbourne, Mercer Pacific, Franklin Templeton and Invictus Health 💛 Our venue partner, Melbourne Business School, for hosting our Gala once again and for being a valued partner over the past three years 💛 Kru Haralle for making us laugh until we cried 💛 Karen Moreno and her band for ending the evening on such a high note 💛 Tala Thrive, our evening partner 💛 Laura Gonzalez, our incredible photographer, for capturing the energy and joy of the night 💛 The Lift Project for the books donated during the giveaways and for the meaningful impact of their work 💛 Councillor Andrew Rowse from the City of Melbourne, the brave man who joined us and stayed until the end! Finally, to our PMW community: whether it was your first event or you've been with us for years, thank you for showing up, sharing your stories and supporting one another. You are the heart of PMW. ❤️ 📊 Reminder: please complete and share our PMW Gender Pay Gap Research survey — your input is important: https://lnkd.in/gq_r6uQj 💻 EOFY reminder: PMW Level Up is 20% off until 30 June with code EOFY26 (members or mentors welcome). https://lnkd.in/dbVr2Jvz Lina Orozco Munera Fabiola Campbell Diana Santibanez #SheSuiteGala #WomenInLeadership #MigrantWomenLeaders

Finding the right mental health support can be life-changing. But for many multicultural Australians, the challenge isn’t simply finding a qualified therapist or coach. It’s finding someone who understands the cultural dynamics, family expectations, identity questions and lived experiences that shape their world. That’s why Tala Thrive exists. Founded by Sonia Kaurah, Tala Thrive connects people with culturally aware therapists and coaches, helping clients access support that feels relevant, personal and genuinely understood. As Sonia puts it: “When people feel understood, healing can begin sooner.” Read more about how Tala Thrive is making mental health support more accessible for multicultural Australians 👉 https://lnkd.in/g45SB_bC

  • Between client meetings, deadlines and everything else on your plate, booking and attending a therapy session isn't always realistic - even when you know you need support. That's the gap our upcoming self-guided programs are designed to fill: short, structured exercises you can work through in your own time, grounded in the same culturally competent approach as our 1:1 sessions. Think of it as a starting point, a top-up between sessions, or simply a way to build healthier habits at your own pace. We'll be sharing more details soon. In the meantime, what topics would you find most useful in a self-guided program? Let us know in the comments. 🧡 #TalaThrive #SelfGuidedProgrammes #MentalHealthMatters #CulturallyCompetentCare #WorkplaceWellbeing

  • When an individual from an ethnic, migrant, or religious minority background identifies as LGBTQ+, their mental health challenges cannot be treated as a monolith. They face compounding minority stress - navigating systemic biases in society, intense generational expectations at home, and cultural nuances that traditional western therapy frameworks frequently overlook. The result? These individuals often experience "identity erasure" in healthcare spaces, forcing them to spend their clinical sessions educating their therapist rather than healing. True psychological safety in the workplace means providing benefits that recognise the full anatomy of this stress. At Tala Thrive, we bridge this gap by connecting individuals with culturally competent, LGBTQ+-affirming practitioners who understand their lived experiences without requiring an explanation. As we enter Pride Month, let’s move beyond symbolic gestures and invest in mental health care that supports the diverse realities of our teams. 👉🏽 Learn how Tala Thrive partners with forward-thinking organisations to provide truly inclusive mental health care: www.talathrive.com #WorkplaceWellness #DEI #MentalHealthAtWork #InclusionInHealthcare #IntersectionalCare #TalaThrive

As we reach the midpoint of the year, many professionals feel the urge to push into overdrive to compensate for unmet targets. However, approaching our ambitions from a place of pressure is a direct path to burnout. True growth requires us to audit our energy just as much as our time. Adjusting your goals to accommodate your cultural, personal, or family responsibilities is a sign of sustainable leadership, not failure. Our latest blog explores how to navigate the mid-year reset with self-compassion and cultural mindfulness. 👇🏽 Read the full article on our website: .https://lnkd.in/gVDkb7N7 If you are navigating workplace stress or burnout, support is available. • The Mid-Year Reset: How to Recalibrate Your Goals Without Burnout
  • Society often expects men to be stoic and unbreakable. These pressures create a heavy weight, making it feel like reaching out is a sign of failure rather than growth. This Men's Mental Health Month, we are focusing on challenging those expectations. Silence does not make you stronger. Cultural stigmas often hinder us from addressing our mental health, but choosing to break that cycle is a powerful step toward resilience. Prioritising your well-being is a sign of strength, not weakness. 🤝🏽💪🏽 You do not have to navigate this alone. If you are ready to talk, our team is here to support you. 👉🏽 Start the conversation: www.talathrive.com #MensMentalHealthMonth #MentalHealthMatters #TalaThrive #BreakTheStigma #MensWellbeing #SupportSystem #MentalHealthSupport

  • In the professional world, we talk a lot about performance, productivity and hitting targets. However, we often overlook the very engine driving that success: our minds. Your mind deserves the same care as your body. Just as physical burnout stops us in our tracks, mental exhaustion can quietly take its toll on our creativity, decision-making and overall happiness. To thrive in our careers and personal lives, we must treat mental fitness as a priority, not an afterthought. How does your workplace encourage mental wellbeing? Let's open up the conversation below. #MentalHealthInTheWorkplace #WorkplaceCulture #ProfessionalWellbeing #Leadership #TalaThrive
