Meet David! David plays a crucial role as Supply Chain Director, overseeing in and outbound inventory as well as management of all ten of Surf’s warehouses in addition to mapping and distribution. He says what he loves most about working for Surf is developing his team and their skills. “I love having the opportunity to grow through the challenges I face while on the job!”    Even when he’s not on the clock at Surf, David has a passion for problem solving and building things. He owns and operates a small remodeling business called David Does LLC, which specializes in painting, refurbishing furniture, flooring, landscaping, and more! His venture into the world of remodeling started nearly a decade ago when he and his wife moved into their new home. As he worked his way through remodeling each room of their home and picking up other handyman jobs, he soon realized this type of work provided him peace and a creative outlet. Like his job working for Surf, his favorite thing about running his own business is working through challenges such as how to reduce inventory pricing so that he can save money for both himself and his customers. Meet Elizabeth! As a Payroll and Benefits Administrator, Elizabeth is dedicated to ensuring team members know what benefits are available to them and that they understand how to fully utilize them. But more importantly, she makes sure we all get paid! She says what she loves most about working for Surf is her team and working with people all around the company. “I love getting to help everyone whether it’s answering questions about payroll or benefits or onboarding. I enjoy getting to know coworkers and others around the company during the process.”  In her downtime, Elizabeth enjoys travelling regionally with her daughter. One of their favorite places to travel is Chicago, Illinois, where they frequently visit the Field Museum of Natural History, Shedd Aquarium, Chinatown, and the Lincoln Park and Gold Coast neighborhoods. Another favorite travel destination of theirs is St Joseph, Michigan. Along with visiting Silver Beach, they love the area for its rich culture and art scene. She and her daughter are especially looking forward to Chalk the Block during the first weekend of August, where amateur and professional chalk artists take to the asphalt to sketch and chalk colorful abstract designs, realistic portraits, and animals that look like they could jump up and sprint down the pavement.  Elizabeth – you’re doing an AMAZING job and we’re glad you’re here. The Bourbonnais Friendship Festival was a BLAST! The theme this year, was of course, “We the People: Celebrate America 250.” Each year, the festival is put together every year by a dedicated group of volunteers and features a carnival, community events like a 5K run and children’s parade, a fireworks display and more.   We had a great time meeting everyone who stopped by our booth. We’re proud to be part of the community in  Bourbonnais and Kankakee County.
