The IAATI Australasian Branch 2025 Vehicle Crime Conference has been fantastic and is still underway, with many valuable insights from leading vehicle crime investigators. As a keynote speaker, I had the opportunity to formally launch our nationwide ANPR backbone for compliant data sharing between agencies and states. Feedback from members of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) on this initiative - and on vGRID ANPR features more broadly, has been very positive, which we’ve greatly appreciated. This initiative establishes a nationwide ANPR backbone designed to connect multiple agencies, states, and organisations, enabling the secure sharing of ANPR data to improve collaboration, real-time alerts, and investigative capabilities across Australia. The ANPR Backbone addresses the security, compliance, and privacy requirements of each jurisdiction and is now fully operational.

Day 1 at the IAATI Australasian Branch 2025 Vehicle Crime Conference! An insightful and energising start to this year’s event - it’s been great hearing from leading detectives, investigators, and industry experts tackling the rising challenges of organised vehicle crime. A key message echoed across today’s sessions was "collaboration over competition" - a guiding principle at the heart of International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI)’s mission, and one that drives everything we do at vGRID. Our Co-founder Scott Bain shared how the vGRID SaferCity Platform is enabling exactly that: real-time collaboration across CCTV networks, ANPR systems, and law enforcement - securely, lawfully, and at scale. From the Queensland Police Service’s use of vGRID to correlate multiple data sources and strengthen investigations, to the many discussions about cross-agency data sharing, one thing is clear: the future of crime prevention depends on connection.
