Fox News TV - Georgia cops' alleged misuse of Flock license plate tracking data fuels privacy concerns. ATLANTA - At least ten police officers across Georgia have been arrested and charged with misusing the Flock camera database for personal reasons, adding to growing privacy concerns about the technology. The cameras, usually mounted to a black pole, record license plates and other data of whoever passes them. A series of recent arrests has exposed the misuse of Flock license-plate-reading cameras by police officers throughout the state. In Greene County, Deputy Quin'sha Goss was fired on Tuesday and charged with misusing the system. The recent arrests include five police officers in Albany, who were also charged earlier this week. That's alongside a lieutenant, a sergeant and a deputy in Cherokee County charged last month with violating their oath. For more details, watch the full segment here as Peter Tran sat down with Rob DiRienzo to discuss the security and privacy concerns to be aware of. CBS News [Live at 5]- Social media ban for kids one step closer. How will it be enforced and what are the consequences? The Massachusetts House of Representatives voted 129-25 to pass legislation that would ban all children under age 14 from using social media in the state. Kids ages 14 and 15 would need parental consent to use social media. The bill, considered one of the most restrictive in the country, also calls for a statewide ban on cellphones in schools, which was passed by the Senate last summer. Attorney General Andrea Campbell is tasked with implementing the social media ban starting October 1, 2026. When asked for comment about the plan to implement the ban, her office would only issue this statement: "It is critical that we hold tech companies accountable for designing social media platforms that keep young people addicted and wreak havoc on their mental health. I am grateful that the Legislature is taking this issue seriously, and I look forward to working with them on next steps." Peter Tran sat down with WBZ | CBS Boston Kristina Rex from the State House to discuss the challenges and complexities with this new legislation. CBS News [Live at 11] - Impact of the global outage of Amazon Web Services (AWS) a warning shot for businesses "Today Toast was offline. We lost hundreds of orders, not just this location but all the other locations," explained owner Marcieli Pastorio. "Even the credit card machine was offline. All the orders are going to be batched when it comes back online. We don't know when we're going to receive the credit card orders that went through today." "AWS, or Amazon, accounts for about one-third of all the internet traffic globally," said cybersecurity expert Peter Tran. "Everything nowadays is hosted in the cloud, applications, hospital services, you know, transportation services, airlines, they all have their infrastructures on one form of Amazon. The government uses Amazon Web Services for their infrastructure as well." Experts estimate the outage could cost billions. And even as many platforms begin to recover, business owners are holding their breath - bracing for the fallout. CBS News - Instagram limiting teens to PG-13 content What does this all mean for your child? Peter Tran sat down with WBZ | CBS Boston Courtney Cole to talk through how this may all work and how parents can help their child. Watch the full segment here --> https://lnkd.in/eku2m_Pw Teenagers on Instagram will be restricted to seeing PG-13 content by default and won’t be able to change their settings without a parent’s permission, Meta announced. This means kids using teen-specific accounts will see photos and videos on Instagram that are similar to what they would see in a PG-13 movie — no sex, drugs or dangerous stunts, among others. “This includes hiding or not recommending posts with strong language, certain risky stunts, and additional content that could encourage potentially harmful behaviors, such as posts showing marijuana paraphernalia,” Meta said in a blog post Tuesday, calling the update the most significant since it introduced teen accounts last year. Anyone under 18 who signs up for Instagram is automatically placed into restrictive teen accounts unless a parent or guardian gives them permission to opt out. The teen accounts are private by default, have usage restrictions on them and already filter out more “sensitive” content — such as those promoting cosmetic procedures. But kids often lie about their ages when they sign up for social media, and while Meta has began using artificial intelligence to find such accounts, the company declined to say how many adult accounts it has determined to be minors since rolling out the feature earlier this year. The company is also adding an even stricter setting that parents can set up for their children. #Instagram #Privacy #ParentalControls #PG13 #ContentRatings #OnlineSafety #ChildSafety #CyberSecurity #InferSight #TraceFire InferSight TraceFire #S3Consulting #IAM #Identity #IdentityGovernance

NBC News - 'Unlocked' smartphones fall prey to fraudsters snatch and grab! Three people had money stolen outside popular Boston stores from a group of men claiming to be collecting donations, police said Thursday, asking for help identifying the fraudsters. In each of the incidents, three men approached victims and pressured them into giving money by credit card over a tragedy in the family, according to police reports. While they indicated they were charging a small amount of money, $5 or $15, they ended up charging thousands. The instances of fraud took place at popular chains like Whole Foods and Walgreens according to police. In the case of the Walgreens incident, reported as a robbery, the men wouldn't accept a female victim saying "no," then grabbed her phone and replied to an authorization message from her credit card company to OK a $4,000 payment. Want to know what you can to secure your phone if this were to ever happen to you? Check out the full segment here as Peter Tran shares his advice and tips with NBC Boston Stations Robert Goulston.
