  • Most organizations care deeply about impact. Very few can actually measure it well. That’s the uncomfortable truth we keep seeing across the globe, including in Latin America and the Caribbean. ·     Companies. ·     Foundations. ·     NGOs. ·     Even donors. Everyone wants evidence. But many teams are still stuck with fragmented data, weak measurement systems, manual reporting, and impact stories that are hard to validate rigorously.   Not because they don’t care. Because measuring impact well could be HARD. It takes: ·     The right systems ·     Strong methodology ·     Operational discipline ·     And the ability to turn data into real learning That’s exactly why we’re excited about our new collaboration with IDB Lab, an initiative of Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo. As part of this 3-year agreement, we will support portfolio companies across #LAC in #Monitoring, #Evaluation, and #Learning (MEL).   Our role at Rural Senses: Help organizations measure impact with more rigor, less friction, and better evidence. Because impact measurement should not become a burden that drains teams. It should become a strategic advantage. ·     Better decisions. ·     Better learning. ·     Better outcomes. The organizations creating real change deserve tools that help them prove it.   Excited for what’s ahead across the region. And if your organization is struggling to measure and understand its impact clearly — Let’s talk. You can also visit our website https://ruralsenses.com/

  • At Rural Senses we love to bring theory into practice. Yesterday Naomi Noémia Phiri, and Yau L. showed a case study of how AI can be practically used for end-2-end project evaluation for AnyWay Solutions. It is great to hear positive feedback from participants. Thank you, Anders Pettersson for participating and for the kind words.

This week I attended the AI Impact Clarity Summit, a virtual conference on AI in Impact Measurement & Management (IMM) and evaluation. Three days of concrete content on where and how AI can contribute in impact work and the risks and challenges involved. Thank you to Dr Damian Hatton for organising and leading the conference. Among many strong speakers, I found Yau L. and Naomi Noémia Phiri, particularly inspiring in how they addressed the realities of implementation and provided several hand-on advice on what to do and not to do. Looking forward to continuing to explore the possibilities within Rights Hand, and not least to testing Rural Senses as a tool in that work. :)

  • Our very own Naomi Noémia Phiri, BSW is presenting at the AI IMPACT CLARITY SUMMIT.

WHAT IS THE SUMMIT? The AI Impact Clarity Summit is a free, live virtual event for the impact and evaluation community, designed to cut through AI hype and support safe, ethical, verification-first practice in AI-enabled Impact Measurement & Management (IMM). It brings together experienced IMM and evaluation practitioners alongside those testing AI in real-world impact workflows, with a grounded focus on what works, what doesn’t, and what must always be verified. • We won. But that’s not the most interesting part. Last week at Sankalp Forum, Rural Senses was recognised with the Trailblazers Award — alongside exceptional organisations like BURN by Peter Scott and Revival by Yayra Agbofah We’re proud of the recognition. But what excites us more is what it represents. This award isn’t about a single moment on stage. It’s about the quiet, consistent work behind the scenes. It’s the engineers refining AI pipelines so translation happens in hours, not weeks. The analysts interrogating patterns until insight becomes clarity. The field partners ensuring that data reflects lived reality — not assumptions. The long calls. The rewrites. The iterations. Trailblazing isn’t loud. It’s disciplined. At Rural Senses, we believe data should not sit in dashboards. It should move decisions. It should influence capital allocation. It should sharpen strategy. It should protect communities from guesswork. Sankalp created a powerful space where capital met builders — and we were reminded that Africa’s most serious conversations are no longer about potential. They are about execution. To our team: this recognition belongs to you. To our partners and clients: thank you for trusting us with work that matters. To the ecosystem: we’re just getting started. Momentum looks good on us.

You'll find there the most prominent impact-focused enterprises and investors - many of whom are committed to doing good 𝐀𝐍𝐃 building profitable, sustainable businesses. It’s about time the main stage reflects what actually closes the gap between impact and profit: ✅ Real Evidence. ✅ Efficiency. ✅ Trust. 𝐎𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞, we’ll share how the Rural Senses Platform leverages AI + rigorous methodology to help organizations measure, manage, and improve impact - so they can operate more effectively, learn faster, and attract evidence-seeking funding. If you’ll be at @Sankalp in Nairobi and you care about scaling AI for impact - let’s connect. And thank you Nura Global Innovation Lab (formerly Pears Program for Global Innovation) for the facilitation!

  • Will you create a space for learning this year?

As 2026 begins, I have been taking a moment to reflect on last years work, conversations, and lessons that shaped me. One of the biggest learnings for me was this: growth trully happens when we create space to learn together. Participating in AI in Evaluation round table to hosting the AI in Impact Measurement webinar series was a powerful reminder of how much stronger our work becomes when practitioners, evaluators, and technologists come into the same room asking hard questions, sharing experiences, and challenging assumptions. Last year reinforced a few things for me: 1. Learning is continuous, especially in a fast-moving space like AI 2. Collaboration beats working in silos 3.The future of evaluation needs both technology and human judgment. 4.The future of evaluation will be shaped by curiosity, ethics, and people willing to experiment. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who contributed, participated, and engaged along the way. As we step into this new year, I’m carrying these lessons forward and building on them. Something bigger is in the works, and I can’t wait to share more soon. For now, stay curious… and stay tuned Yau L.
