The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® Foundation has opened its call for startups to enter the 11th annual Eureka Park Accessibility Contest. U.S. and Canadian startups that meet the Eureka Park eligibility criteria and can show how their products benefit people with disabilities or older adults are invited to enter the contest. • We are delighted to join RRF Foundation for Aging's (RRF) grantee partners at the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) and the many other advocates dedicated to housing reform -- in celebration of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, a landmark legislative package that became law on July 11.   We’re especially pleased that this legislation aligns with RRF’s focus on Housing as a funding priority area and a social determinant of aging well. It supports efforts that allow older adults to age safely in their homes and communities, expands homeownership opportunities by increasing housing supply, and strengthens community development programs. The legislative package includes numerous provisions to help address housing affordability, equity, and financing in underserved communities.   These include provisions that would: - Create a pilot grant program for comprehensive home repairs not covered by other federal programs, supporting low-income homeowners of single-family, inherited, or manufactured homes, and small landlords whose units serve as affordable housing. - Provide grants to manufactured housing communities to preserve affordability, address critical infrastructure needs, and create new homeownership opportunities via the Preservation and Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement. - Prioritize heirs’ property owners, owners of inherited family homes who often lack access to credit, mortgage relief, and disaster assistance, by commissioning a report to identify solutions for these homeowners. - Make progress on addressing appraisal bias by requiring mortgage lenders to maintain procedures to allow consumer-initiated requests for second appraisals or re-considerations of value when they believe there may be an issue with their appraised home value.   More below: read NCLC’s review of the final version of (H.R. 6644), The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which, after passage in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, automatically became law on July 11. #The21stCenturyROADtoHousingAct; #OlderAmericansAct https://lnkd.in/gkjy9Ps7

  • Thank you.

On May 29, 2026, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) proposed sweeping changes to the Uniform Guidance, the set of rules that govern how federal grants, cooperative agreements, and other monetary awards are made to nonprofits, state and local governments, and other grantees. AFP has signed on to the National Council of Nonprofits' letter opposing these changes. We encourage your organization to add its name to this letter and consider submitting a personalized public comment before the July 13 deadline. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eumAyqRA

  • This week, RRF Foundation for Aging joined philanthropic organizations across the country in signing the Grantmakers In Health’s (GIH) Letter of Public Comment offering concrete recommendations to the U.S. Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) proposed changes to federal grantmaking. We appreciate GIH’s thoughtful insights offered to OMB policymakers and sincerely urge the OMB to heed GIH’s experienced and well-intentioned input for the sustainability of crucial services benefiting millions of Americans, particularly our growing population of older adults, with those age 60+ approaching nearly 80 million strong. We recognize our grantee partners' tireless commitment to providing programs and services that move us closer to RRF’s vision of a more age-inclusive society, one in which ALL older adults are valued and can thrive. Proposed changes that create new barriers, increase administrative burdens, or make it more difficult for organizations to access federal funding would thwart important progress being made toward this vision. We stand in solidarity with RRF grantee and philanthropic partners in urging OMB officials to reverse course and rethink the proposed changes -- for the betterment of U.S. communities and quality of life. A strong nonprofit sector is essential to advancing opportunity, dignity, and well-being for us all, especially older adults across the country. • On Alert! Last month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued an interim final rule (IFR) on the Medicaid community engagement provision of the H.R.1 Act. A June 12, 2026, Health Affairs Forefront article, "Medical Frailty Rule Contravenes H.R.1, Burdens the Health Care System, and Threatens Public Health," has alerted us to the harm that could affect millions of Medicaid recipients as the IFR goes into effect on July 31.   Coming on the heels of the largest reduction in Medicaid funding in the nation’s history, called for in H.R.1, this recently released interim final rule will likely affect an estimated 5 million people who depend on Medicaid for their healthcare and will lose coverage due to a stringent 80-hour-per-month “community engagement” requirement.   The article examines critical shortfalls of the CMS changes, outlining a sequence of events and concerns associated with the proposed rule. And a close analysis indicates that the published IFR seems to go against what CMS had been telling states--and what states have already spent months preparing for--and is far more harmful, especially to older adults and people with disabilities who likely would have qualified for a community-engagement exemption based on “medical frailty” that is referenced in the H.R.1. Act.   RRF Foundation for Aging grantee partners at the LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston, Marc Cohen and Jane Tavares, co-authored the article in collaboration with a group of leading advocates and policy researchers. We commend our partners and their co-authors -- as they step forward to protect critically needed healthcare for our most vulnerable older adults and people with disabilities.   The public is invited to submit comments on the IFR by July 31st, but the rule as published nonetheless takes effect on that same date. Thus, states will be required to implement the rule even if justifiable changes are recommended by public comment.   The formal published version of the rule is linked here - https://lnkd.in/gwHtUkwm You can find the related CMS fact sheet at https://lnkd.in/gH_tS9VH   Read the in-depth analysis of concerns on this matter below.   #SaraRosenbaum, #FeygeleJacobs, #AlisonBarkoff, #AllysonCrays, #CaitlinMurphy #CarolineLFarrell, #RRFFoundationforAging, #LeadingAgeLTSSCenterUMassBoston #MarcACohen, #JaneTavares   https://lnkd.in/gEMFpSEP

  • Today, RRF Foundation for Aging joined nonprofit organizations across the country in signing the National Council of Nonprofits' letter opposing the Office of Management and Budget's (OMB) proposed changes to federal grantmaking. Our grantee partners are on the front lines of activating the Foundation's vision for a more age-inclusive society, one in which ALL older adults are valued and can thrive. Proposed changes that create new barriers, increase administrative burdens, or make it more difficult for organizations to access federal funding would thwart important progress being made toward this vision.   We stand in solidarity with our grantee partners and the broader nonprofit sector in urging OMB officials to reverse course and stop these proposed changes. A strong nonprofit sector is essential to advancing opportunity, dignity, and well-being for older adults across the country. • Webinar NEXT WEEK: "Philanthropy's Role in Combating Financial Scams Across the Lifespan" Join us. Asset protection is asset building. We're looking forward to this timely discussion. On Tuesday, June 30, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET, Asset Funders Network, Philanthropy New York, RRF Foundation for Aging, and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation will share insights on how philanthropy can defend the prosperity families are working to build. Financial scams are one of the most underestimated threats to family economic well-being in this country. Older adults are among the most frequently and severely targeted, and the harm reaches across generations and communities. The cause is structural: gaps in consumer protection, data privacy, and financial infrastructure that we have the tools and collective will to close. The encouraging news: solutions are already in motion. Federal, state, and institutional protections exist. Advocacy is building. Prevention technology is advancing. And philanthropy has a meaningful role in scaling what works. You'll leave with: ✅ A clear picture of who is harmed by financial scams, and how ✅ A map of current consumer protections at the federal, state, and institutional levels ✅ Concrete opportunities for philanthropic investment in prevention, education, advocacy, and support for those who have been harmed Register here: https://lnkd.in/gVexMGGD
