  • Great hospitality concepts don’t fail because the idea is wrong. They fail when the operation underneath doesn’t support growth. As brands expand into new regions or move towards franchising, flow, leadership behaviour, and execution become critical. Without that foundation, standards slip and the guest experience suffers. In a recent conversation on Captive Conversations, we explored why scaling requires better thinking upfront, not more complexity later.

Hospitality rarely fails because the idea is wrong. It fails in the space between idea and operation 🧠 That felt like the right place to start 2026. The first Captive Conversations podcast of the year is live, and I sat down with Massimo from Restaurant Keys to talk about what really makes hospitality work day to day. We spoke about how often restaurants open without fully thinking through what it actually takes to run them once the doors are open. As Massimo put it: “Most restaurants would open without considering that you actually have to run the restaurants.” That gap shows up fast. In flow. In stations. In how much time teams actually have to talk to guests. He also shared a simple but powerful reminder about design and service: “So the waiters does waste a lot of time when he’s at the station. Therefore has more time to talk to the customers.” That is hospitality in practice. Not more staff. Not more spend. Just better thinking upfront 🌱 If you work in hospitality leadership, operations or development, this conversation is a great way to kick off the year. 🎙️ Watch or listen to the first Captive Conversations of 2026 ▶️ YouTube: https://lnkd.in/ejbKWxQm 🎧 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eQbzy9fx 🍎 Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/evY69F3r #hospitality #hospitalityleaders #guestexperience #peopleandculture #restaurantindustry #hospitalitydesign #captiveconversations

  • Great hospitality concepts don’t fail because the idea is wrong. They fail when the operation underneath doesn’t support it. On the latest Captive Conversations, Massimo Montone spoke with Adam Forman 📶🌐 about a challenge we see repeatedly as brands grow and expand into new locations: restaurants are often designed to open, not to operate. When flow, stations, and leadership behaviours are properly thought through, teams gain time, clarity, and confidence. That is when service improves without adding cost or complexity. A strong conversation to kick off 2026 and a reminder that execution is what protects a brand as it scales. 🎙️ Watch or listen to the first Captive Conversations of 2026 ▶️ YouTube: https://lnkd.in/ejbKWxQm 🎧 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eQbzy9fx 🍎 Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/evY69F3r

  • Huge congratulations on a well deserved win. The lighting at Sumosan Bahrain is beautifully considered and elevates the entire experience. A great example of how thoughtful lighting design can define mood, pace, and atmosphere. Credit to a truly strong project team.

  • Good Consultings Prevents Problems...

One of the biggest mistakes restaurant owners make waiting too long to ask for support. By the time help is brought in Margins are already tight Teams are already exhausted Decisions are reactive The best operators don’t wait for problems. They build structure early and protect it as they grow. At what stage do you think external advice brings the most value pre-opening, early growth, or turnaround?

    • Good consulting prevents problems.

AI is transforming hospitality faster than ever. Automation, data, chatbots, forecasting, and systems are becoming incredibly powerful. But here’s the truth most people are avoiding: The more AI we introduce into hospitality, the more Emotional Intelligence becomes the real differentiator. Technology can optimise systems. AI can predict demand. Automation can streamline operations. But AI cannot: 🧠 Read a guest’s emotional state 🔥 Regulate pressure in a service crisis 🤝 Inspire a tired team during a difficult shift 🛑 De-escalate conflict with empathy and authority ✨ Create emotional connection, trust, and loyalty Hospitality has always been an emotional business — and now, more than ever, leadership emotional intelligence is the deciding factor between average service and exceptional experience. What I see across hotels and restaurant groups is clear: ⚠️ Leaders under pressure reacting instead of responding ⚠️ Inconsistent communication across teams ⚠️ Conflict handled poorly, or avoided entirely ⚠️ Strong systems, weak emotional leadership This is why I created my E.Q.U.I.P.™ Emotional Intelligence Masterclass for Hospitality Leaders; a one-day, in-person experience designed to help leaders: 🎯 Regulate emotions under pressure 🗣️ Communicate with clarity and authority 👀 Read emotional cues in guests and teams 🤍 Navigate conflict with confidence 🏗️ Build emotionally intelligent service cultures that technology cannot replace This isn’t a soft-skills workshop. It’s a leadership performance system for modern hospitality. If you’re leading people in hospitality or preparing your organisation for a future shaped by AI, this is the capability that cannot be automated. 📩 If you’d like to explore the masterclass or bring it to your organisation, comment “EI” (NOT AI) below or send me a direct message. Let’s raise the standard of leadership in hospitality.

  • 2025, refined. This year has been about building with intention. At Restaurant Keys, we’ve supported ambitious operators, founders, and investors in turning ideas into structured, scalable, and profitable businesses. From leadership training to operational strategy, and from advisory on multi-site growth to international expansion, 2025 was a year of execution, clarity, and trust. We’ve learned that the best results come from: ✔️ Selecting the right ingredients ✔️ Respecting the process ✔️ Allowing time for depth to develop As we look to 2026, we’re ready to continue partnering with restaurants, founders, and investors who want to grow thoughtfully, efficiently, and sustainably. Curious to know: What did you build in 2025?

Pekoe moments. The finest leaves. Time, patience, and intention. That’s how I choose to look back at 2025. This year wasn’t about noise or shortcuts. It was about refinement, execution, and building things properly. At Restaurant Keys, 2025 was a year of: Supporting restaurant groups scaling across multiple locations; Advising founders on international expansion, acquisitions, and board-level decisions; Designing and delivering leadership, management, and service culture programmes for senior and middle management; Working alongside investors, owners, and operators to turn ideas into structured, profitable businesses; Strengthening our role not just as consultants, but as long-term partners. What I’m most proud of isn’t the number of projects. It’s the quality of conversations, the clarity of strategy, and the trust built with our clients. Like Pekoe tea, the best results come from: ✔️ Selecting the right ingredients ✔️ Respecting the process ✔️ Allowing time for depth to develop 2025 laid strong foundations. 2026 is about scale, precision, and impact. Grateful to every client, partner, and team member who trusted Restaurant Keys this year. Onwards. 🍃
