Software for the people writing environmental reviews

About us

RecordSight is software for the people writing environmental reviews. NEPA and CEQA reviews are the gate every major US infrastructure project has to pass — highways, transmission lines, solar farms, broadband, military expansions. The median environmental impact statement now takes 4.5 years and costs millions. Most of that work still happens in Word documents and email threads, with institutional knowledge trapped in the heads of senior practitioners who are aging out of the workforce. We're building on NEPATEC 2.0, an openly licensed corpus of historical NEPA documents covering 40 years of federal environmental review, so the tools we ship learn from every review that came before them. The goal is straightforward: give consultants, agency reviewers, and project applicants software that respects how this work actually gets done — and compresses the parts that shouldn't take this long. Why now: the regulatory framework just changed (CEQ regulations rescinded in 2025). Legally enforceable deadlines are in effect for the first time under the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023. Roughly $900B in new infrastructure funding is triggering thousands of new reviews. And the AI methods needed to make this real have been proven by federal research at PNNL. Pre-launch · 2026. If you work in NEPA or CEQA — consultant, agency reviewer, applicant — we'd love to compare notes. → recordsight.com
