As #QuantumTech move from the lab and into the real world, the conversation can no longer be limited to what we can build. Should these technologies be governed, who should they serve, and how can society ensure they contribute to human progress? These were the themes discussed at the Global Nobel Laureates Assembly On Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear War, where Quantonation’s Managing Partner Christophe Jurczak joined scientists, policymakers, ethicists and technology leaders from around the world. Unlike many previous technology waves, quantum has an opportunity to start these conversations early. Bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and civil society will be essential to ensuring quantum innovation develops responsibly alongside technological progress. #QuantumTechnology #VC #VentureCapital #DeepTech

Investing in Deep Physics and Quantum Technologies
About us
Quantonation is an early-stage venture capital fund investing globally in deep technologies based on advances in physics and computing. We invest initial tickets from pre-seed to Series A and provide support through to Series B. Physics is the basis for industry transformations in energy, transportation, finance, healthcare, aerospace, and beyond. It underpins our investment thesis in quantum technologies and deep physics, where scientific advancements are driving new commercial applications. We partner with visionary and disruptive founders who are leveraging these breakthroughs to build the next generation of world-changing companies. Quantonation sits at the intersection of world-leading science and visionary founders, transforming cutting-edge innovations into commercially viable products. Headquartered in Paris, France, and Boston, USA, we invest across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific. Quantonation is headquartered in Paris, France, and in Boston, USA.

For much of the past decade, AI, HPC and #quantum have largely evolved as separate technology ecosystems. That distinction is becoming harder to maintain and at Quantonation’s Investor Day, one theme surfaced repeatedly throughout the discussions - the future of computing won’t be built by AI, HPC or quantum alone. The most interesting opportunities and some of the biggest companies yet to be built will emerge at the intersection of all three. That convergence is creating new possibilities for #founders, researchers and industry alike, while raising entirely new questions around infrastructure, software and applications. A few snapshots from the day. #VC #VentureCapital

One thing stood out at Quantonation’s Investor Day last week: Nobody was asking whether #quantum matters anymore. Equally striking was how often the conversation moved between quantum, #AI and high-performance computing. Increasingly, these technologies are being discussed not as separate markets, but as interconnected parts of the future computing stack. The conversation has moved on thanks to new investments, portfolio growth, scaling challenges, AI-enabled workflows, hiring and commercialization. Of course, the science still matters. But increasingly it’s being discussed in the context of building enduring businesses rather than proving the technology works. Instead, the focus is shifting to harder questions: 🔮 How do we scale companies? 🔮 How do we find customers? 🔮 How do we build teams? 🔮 How can AI accelerate development and discovery? 🔮 How do we turn technical leadership into market leadership? The science remains difficult but building great companies may be even harder. Paris last week was a reminder that while quantum technology may be built in laboratories, successful quantum companies are built the same way every great startup is: through relentless execution. Thanks to the #founders, LPs, researchers and partners who joined us. #QuantumTech #PhysicsTech #VC #VentureCapital

Quantonation is joining the first Bavarian-French startup festival dedicated to quantum technologies in Munich. As Europe works to strengthen its technological sovereignty, collaboration across borders is becoming just as important as scientific progress itself. The event on July 8th brings together #startups, researchers, industrial leaders, policymakers and #VCs from France and Germany to accelerate the conversations that turn #quantum innovation into real-world impact. Quantonation is participating in a roundtable discussion on the future of Europe’s quantum ecosystem and ready to connect in Munich! #QuantumTech #QuantumComputing #DeepTech #VentureCapital

The #quantum conversation is quickly becoming about where real commercial value emerges, which milestones matter, and how investors, founders and industry should separate meaningful progress from the noise. Tomorrow, Quantonation’s Olivier Tonneau joins Johan BOULLET and Philippe Bouyer at the Inpho Venture Summit for a discussion about: 🔮 The technical and commercial milestones that matter most today 🔮 Where quantum companies can create value before fault-tolerant #QuantumComputing 🔮 How investors evaluate quantum opportunities in an increasingly crowded market 🔮 What it takes to build a durable quantum company in Europe The session will be driven by audience questions, so bring yours. 📅 July 7 | 5:00 PM CEST Webinar link in the comments #QuantumTechnology #DeepTech #VentureCapital #VC

For more than 350 years, science has been organised around publications. First it was journals, then the internet. And next, perhaps, it will be #AI. In a recent essay, Quantonation Partner William Zeng explores the idea of “Streaming Science”: a future where scientific knowledge is no longer packaged primarily into papers, but continuously shared through code, data, experiments and research artifacts that AI systems can help interpret and connect. His argument is not that papers disappear but rather that AI becomes a new layer through which scientific communities discover, organise and build on knowledge. Research could move from periodic publication cycles toward more continuous collaboration, reducing overhead and accelerating discovery. #VentureCapital #VC #PhysicsTech

Over the past few weeks, Emily Meads has had the opportunity to contribute to the conversation about #quantum's real-world impact. At this year’s QSL Quantum Showcase, she joined an all-female panel discussing the future of #QuantumTech, innovation and leadership. She also served as a jury member for the Advanced Compute track at the Hello Tomorrow Global Summit, helping evaluate some of the most promising companies shaping the future of computing. Thank you to the organisers, fellow panelists, founders and participants who continue to strengthen and grow the global quantum ecosystem. #AdvancedComputing #DeepTech #PhysicsTech #VC #VentureCapital

Last week was a good reminder that #quantum is no longer developing in isolated national ecosystems. Quantonation brought together French and Japanese #founders, researchers, investors and industry leaders for the Franco-Japanese Quantum Breakfast, organised alongside Q-STAR. Topics spanned how to move from world-class research to deployable technologies, how to build stronger industrial supply chains, and how international collaboration will shape the next generation of quantum companies. At the same time, Ylan TRAN joined the European Patent Office at VivaTech to discuss what it actually takes to build and scale deep tech ventures in Europe. A big thank you to everyone who joined us in Paris! Swipe through for a few moments from the day 📸 #DeepTech #VC #VentureCapital

This week Quantonation attended the France Quantum summit with Olivier Tonneau sharing his thoughts on "Investing in the Quantum Revolution: from Hype to Long-term Value". Here are some of his key takeaways from the discussion: ▪️ #QuantumComputing is sharing the spotlight with Quantum communication as the latter reaches a major inflection point: recent advances suggest that Shor’s algorithm could be implemented with as few as 10,000 qubits. ▪️ AI and quantum are converging: There's growing evidence that AI can accelerate #quantum development, including by enabling coding on quantum computers using natural language. ▪️ Europe has real strengths: Around half of the key components in the quantum value chain, like photonics and cryogenics, are supplied by European companies. A unique opportunity to build global champions. A conviction shared across the panel was “how” to capitalise on this quantum revolution. Thank you to France Quantum for the invitation and to all the panelists Fanny Bouton (OVHcloud), Xavier GRISON (Agence de l'innovation de défense), Neil Abroug (Inria) and Sami Moughrabie (Atmos Ventures) for the insightful discussion. #VC #DeepTech #VentureCapital
