  • Trust the Progress - We’ve reached an inflection point. As our community continues to grow, we are evolving to meet the next stage of our journey. We’re excited to share the launch of our new brand, Prompt in Progress. This is more than just a name change, it is a shift in how we plan to move beyond just hosting events to becoming a true ecosystem of innovation. Our founder, Timothy Chau, breaks down the thinking behind this move, what stays the same, and how we are building for the future. Read the full update here 👇

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about what it actually takes to sustain a community, and I want to be transparent: it’s been a tough, stressful, but rewarding journey. Some of you might have noticed a few branding changes recently. To ensure we keep the "Tinkerers" spirit pure while continuing to grow our ecosystem, I’m excited to finally introduce Prompt in Progress. Like many things, this is still a work in progress with some uncertainty, but it is the next chapter for us. Read the full update here, and let's trust the progress 👇

The Louvre was a spectacular setting for two very hot days at RAISE Summit in Paris! Getting AI to do something useful is becoming easier. Getting it to work reliably inside a company is not. In the opening keynote with Mark Cuban and Anton Osika they shared that more than one million new projects are created on Lovable every week! Chris Clark, co-founder and COO of OpenRouter, shared that inference could become a dominant operating expense for knowledge businesses. List price isn't the same as real-world cost, benchmarks are no substitute for your own evals, and reliable inference depends on routing, observability and failover. Another theme at Raise, was that AI adoption is increasingly an organisational design challenge. Marco Argenti, from Goldman Sachs, described non-technical colleagues prototyping solutions, with forward-deployed and engineering teams turning the strongest ideas into production-grade systems. Duncan Clark CEO Pro Design Canva shared how they paused normal work for an AI learning week, giving people space to explore, build and learn without demanding an immediate outcome. Guillaume Princen from Anthropic offered an important reminder: AI should help us think further, not replace our thinking. The difficult question is deciding which decisions should remain human. Sachin Katti, Head of Industrial Compute at OpenAI, described the progression from supervised "AI interns" carrying out workflows towards more autonomous research loops. Hearing that Codex has become the default work interface inside OpenAI made that future feel much less abstract. The All-In Podcast Live session was another highlight and very entertaining! It was even better to spend both days exploring the conference with my brother, Eliot Payne. The swag was excellent. IYKYK. It was also great to represent AI Tinkerers Hong Kong & Greater Bay Area, great to meet Jake Laes, Joe Heitzeberg and as well as to join the AI Tinkerers Paris dinner with fellow founders, leaders and builders Abdoulaye D., Shivnarayan Rajappa, Matthias Lübken, Clara Gainon de Forsan de Gabriac, Ph.D., Simon Zilinskas - Inta, Oleg Sokolov, Vatsal Bhardwaj. Paris was beautiful. The heat (and limited aircon) was relentless but the question I'm taking home: how do we give more people the freedom to experiment while building the infrastructure, evals and human decision boundaries needed to trust what reaches production?

  • Thank you all for joining us at our monthly networking night! Lots of new faces and some familiar faces today, and it was very interesting to hear what you are all building, from nursing to education, and a number of you representing the legal industry! While our monthly demo meetups are important as a cornerstone, we believe that to build an open community, what is more important is to create more opportunities for people to gather, to share what you’re building, and connect. Feel free to connect in the comment section if you were here today, and sorry Brian for blocking you in the photo. We are hosting our monthly meetup on July 29th, and we are still looking for demos: https://lnkd.in/gMkAnipP

【Global AI Community Insights 🎥】From Tokyo to Hong Kong: The Philosophy Behind AI Builder Communities AI+ Power 2026 continues to deliver deep, forward-looking insights for the industry! In the "Global Insights: AI Community Building in Japan" session, Microsoft's AI Architect Drew Robbins flew in from Tokyo to break down how Japan's AI builder community operates and thinks about creation. This wasn't just a tech demo — it was a deep dive into AI community culture, creative ethics, and tooling philosophy: 💡 Core Practical Insights from the Session: 📌 1. The Tooling Matters as Much as the Model While the industry obsesses over model capability, Drew pointed out that the tooling built around the model is just as critical to real-world outcomes. A well-designed harness often determines how effectively AI actually gets used. 📌 2. Faster Creation Without Losing Your Voice Drew demoed his own content creation tool, "Cloud Author," showing how AI compressed a content workflow that once took two weeks into just a few days — while emphasising that creators must preserve their own voice, never letting AI fully take over their personal style. 📌 3. Tokyo and Hong Kong's AI Communities Share the Same DNA Drew noted that Tokyo's AI Tinkerers community shares the same core spirit as AI Tinkerers Hong Kong & GBA — endlessly curious, generous with knowledge-sharing, and driven forward by real builder stories rather than polished pitches. Technology is just the tool. What truly drives an AI community forward is genuine human exchange and shared learning. 👇 Click the video below to watch Drew Robbins' full session highlights! https://lnkd.in/gYsBTtUs #AIplusPower2026 #AITinkerers #AISkillsLab #AICommunity #ContentCreation #ThoughtLeadership #HKCEC #BusinessAI

From Shenzhen last week to Hong Kong today, it has been an eye-opening journey across the region. I had a wonderful time at the SCMP Live China Conference 2026 in Hong Kong earlier today. Thank you for having AI Tinkerers Hong Kong & Greater Bay Area as a supporting organization once again, I am incredibly proud of how much our community has achieved in such a short period of time. One of the biggest takeaways from the Chief Executive, the Honourable John Lee, was how Hong Kong is positioned to become an International Innovation and Technology Hub under the Five-Year Plan. The importance of having five top institutions in the city was a recurring theme, highlighting how Hong Kong is primed for this role as an international financial center and a key part of the GBA. I believe communities are vital to this mission, acting as a "third space" for people to share what they are building and to foster innovation. I look forward to how our community can play a role in adding an international dimension to this landscape and its people. It was also a great day to catch up with Adeline, another AI community lead I greatly respect, so much has happened since we last spoke!
