Advancing Bitcoin adoption through progressive education, research, and advocacy for a more inclusive and just world
About us
The Progressive Bitcoiner’s mission is to advance Bitcoin as a tool to build a more financially inclusive and just world through advocacy, education, and research. Through our various programs, grants, podcast and media, we’re updating the narrative around Bitcoin showing it’s for everyone, including those with progressive values and ideals in mind. Our values: Education & Inclusion We are committed to making Bitcoin education accessible to all, especially to those who feel underrepresented or skeptical. Social Justice & Equity We believe in Bitcoin's potential to empower marginalized communities and address systemic inequalities by providing financial sovereignty and access. Environmental Stewardship We advocate for education and research into Bitcoin's role in promoting renewable energy usage and the potential reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Community Empowerment We prioritize stories and initiatives that showcase Bitcoin's impact on community development, resilience, and grassroots movements. Privacy as a Human Right We believe privacy is a fundamental human right. Bitcoin enables individuals to transact freely and securely, protecting them from surveillance and censorship. By supporting privacy-focused tools, we defend the right to economic autonomy for all. Progressive Engagement We seek to engage with progressive audiences by aligning Bitcoin's principles with values such as social welfare, economic fairness, and democratic participation.

How Bitcoin Is Expanding What’s Possible in Global Giving Around the world, nonprofits are confronting slow banking systems, high transfer fees, currency instability, and restricted access to financial services. Bitcoin offers a new way forward. Here’s how Bitcoin is already improving global philanthropy: 1. Borderless & fast: Bitcoin moves value globally in minutes, allowing aid to reach communities during urgent moments when timing matters most. 2. Works where banks don’t: Conflict zones, disaster areas, and politically unstable regions often lose access to traditional financial rails. Bitcoin continues to function, enabling direct support. 3. Lower costs mean greater impact: International transfers can be expensive. Bitcoin keeps transaction costs low so more funds reach the intended recipients. 4. Transparent by design: Blockchain records allow nonprofits to demonstrate when funds were received and how they were allocated — increasing accountability and donor trust. 5. Empowers people on the ground: Bitcoin lets individuals hold value safely, resist currency collapse, and spend or convert funds based on local needs. 6. Censorship-resistant in high-risk environments: When bank accounts are frozen or financial access is restricted, Bitcoin provides a neutral, permissionless path for humanitarian support. Bitcoin isn’t just a technology, it’s becoming a vital tool for global generosity. At The Progressive Bitcoiner, we believe in exploring how Bitcoin can be used ethically, responsibly, and humanely to improve lives around the world.

Bitcoin is often framed as a speculative asset. But in places like El Zonte, El Salvador, it’s far more than that. There, families use Bitcoin to buy food, pay for school, and cover medical bills—everyday transactions that most of us take for granted. For communities without access to traditional banking, Bitcoin provides inclusion, resilience, and a way forward. ✨ This is why Bitcoin matters. It’s for everyone. #FinancialInclusion #BitcoinForGood #ProgressiveBitcoiner

In Nairobi’s Kibera slum, many residents are excluded from the financial system due to lack of identification or paperwork. A local initiative is changing that by enabling transactions and savings with Bitcoin. For marginalized communities, Bitcoin isn’t about speculation. It’s about access, autonomy, and financial inclusion. Technology can be a bridge where traditional systems fall short. #bitcoinisforeveryone

Bitcoin isn’t just for Wall Street or Silicon Valley. It’s for: 🌍 Families sending remittances across borders 📚 Students building open-source tools 💡 Innovators tackling climate challenges 🤝 Communities seeking financial inclusion Because Bitcoin is open, neutral, and accessible — no permission required, no gatekeepers. That’s its true power: Bitcoin is for everyone. #bitcoin #crypto #bitcoinisforeveryone #bitcoinforgood

Imagine living in a community where banks don’t exist for you. No ID, no account, no access. That’s daily life in Kibera, Nairobi—until Bitcoin showed up. Now residents are using BTC to get paid for everyday work like garbage collection. Safer, cheaper, and no gatekeepers. 👉 This is what financial inclusion actually looks like. https://lnkd.in/gF8jSfiN
