October 2025 Patch Tuesday — 175 Microsoft CVEs UK organisations: this is a large drop touching Windows, Office, Azure, Exchange, SharePoint, Hyper-V, developer tooling and legacy components. Please patch this week and prioritise internet-facing and identity tiers. Patch first (highest business risk) Azure Entra ID – CVE-2025-59246 (9.8, More Likely): Cloud identity = blast radius. Patch tenants and review conditional access. Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) – CVE-2025-59287 (9.8, More Likely): Your patching platform shouldn’t be your weakest link. ASP.NET Core – CVE-2025-55315 (9.9) & Microsoft Graphics Component – CVE-2025-49708 (9.9): Internet-reachable apps and VDI estates at risk. Exchange/SharePoint – CVE-2025-59249 (8.8), CVE-2025-59228/59237 (8.8): Prioritise any externally accessible services. Remote Desktop Client – CVE-2025-58718 (8.8, mitigations available): User-driven but high impact in VDI/RDS. RPC – CVE-2025-59502 (7.5, More Likely) & SMB Server – CVE-2025-58726 (7.5): Core Windows protocols, limit exposure, patch quickly. Exploitation seen: Agere Modem Driver – CVE-2025-24990, Remote Access Connection Manager – CVE-2025-59230 (both flagged Exploitation Detected). If present in your estate, move to ring 0. While patches roll out Internet-facing first → identity → management (WSUS/ConfigMgr) → servers → endpoints. Enforce MFA, NLA for RDP, restrict legacy IE usage, and disable SMBv1. For RDP Client (CVE-2025-58718): block risky file types, use App Control/WDAC, and broker external access via gateways. Review Azure/Entra audit logs and WSUS/ConfigMgr admin activity for anomalies. Keep HVCI/Memory Integrity on for modern Windows builds. Multiple BitLocker and VBS/Kernel fixes affecting device security posture. Updates for Azure agents (CVE-2025-58724) and Defender/PowerShell/COM components frequently used in attack chains. 🔗 Link: https://lnkd.in/djQYd__7 If you need a risk-based patch plan mapped to your Crown Jewels or out-of-hours assistance, our UK-based incident & vulnerability team can help contact us today, https://lnkd.in/gTZpTs9H #PatchTuesday #Microsoft #CyberSecurity #VulnerabilityManagement #Azure #EntraID #WSUS #Exchange #SharePoint #RDP #UKCyber #BlueTeam

🚨September 2025 Patch Tuesday — 86 CVEs. Prioritise identity, file-sharing and internet-facing services.🚨 Microsoft’s September release spans Windows, Office, SQL Server, IIS, SharePoint, Hyper-V and Azure agents. Several bugs are network-exploitable and a few are flagged more likely to be exploited. UK teams: schedule change windows this week and move the criticals first. 🔥 Patch these first (re-ordered) Windows TCP/IP — CVE-2025-54093 (More Likely): Kernel-adjacent networking path; expedite on laptops, VDI/RDS, jump boxes and servers hosting untrusted users/workloads. Windows NTLM — CVE-2025-54918 (8.8, More Likely): Identity exposure → lateral movement. Windows SMB — CVE-2025-55234 (8.8, More Likely): File services at risk; prioritise file/print and app servers. Windows Kernel — CVE-2025-54110 (8.8, More Likely): Broad OS impact. Microsoft HPC Pack — CVE-2025-55232 (9.8): Internet-exposed RCE. SharePoint — CVE-2025-54897 (8.8); SQL Server — CVE-2025-55227 (8.8): Patch internet-reachable and business-critical instances first. RRAS clusters — multiple 8.8s (e.g. CVE-2025-54106/54113): Patch perimeter/VPN nodes promptly. Azure Windows VM Agent — CVE-2025-49692 (7.8): Roll across subscriptions. 🛠 Mitigation notes while patching For TCP/IP: restrict local admin rights, harden VDI/RDS (FSLogix/jump hosts), enable HVCI/Memory Integrity, and monitor for kernel crashes/EDR alerts indicating exploitation attempts. Keep SMB signed, NTLM restricted, RDP/NLA + MFA enforced, and remove Web Deploy if unused. UK teams: book change windows this week; patch internet-facing → identity tier → endpoints/VDI → core servers in that order, with TCP/IP included in ring 0. Need a hand prioritising by asset criticality or doing out-of-hours rollout? Our UK-based CREST team can help. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dHpTjmk8 Stay patched, stay resilient. Is your cyber insurance renewal a box-ticking exercise or a strategic move? In 2025, the UK cyber insurance landscape will have transformed. While Q1 brought softer premiums (down 7–12%), renewal now means proving resilience, not just submitting a form. Key insights from our latest blog: Rising cyber exposure: 43% of UK businesses (74% of large enterprises) reported breaches last year, yet 60.8% of SMEs still lack coverage. Underwriters demand proof: From MFA logs and backup tests, to board-level governance and vendor due diligence, insurers now expect verifiable evidence. Renewals = resilient renewal: Firms that demonstrate real readiness often benefit from premium reductions, faster renewals, and bolstered board confidence. 🔗 Read the full blog: https://lnkd.in/gxz3JhGR #ProCheckUp #CyberInsurance #Renewal2025 #UKCyber #RiskManagement #BoardGovernance
