I was pretty surprised when, Russell Vought, the head of Trump's budget office, sent a letter to Speaker Mike Johnson requesting relief from the hemp ban set to take effect this November. Surprised but very pleased. The letter laid out two paths Congress could take: adopt the regulatory framework from Rep. Andy Barr's (R-KY) hemp bill, or extend the implementation timeline to give Congress more time to build a framework. The letter was part of a rider request to the NDAA. Outside of the flurry of chatter, there has been no discernible movements on hemp policy since the letter was sent. But the industry can take some confidence from the continued calls for sensible hemp regulation from the absolute top of the power pyramid. Any bill needs three things to pass: language, a vehicle to carry it, and votes. This gets us two of the three and I know some really good and smart people are working on the third.

  • This past weekend, we had the privilege of sponsoring Lakeshore Music Fest - and what a weekend it was! Plift was served behind the bar and sampled at our booth (which was buzzing all weekend long!). We loved sharing our story, but even more, we loved meeting so many incredible people and hearing their stories. In a world that can feel increasingly disconnected, events like this remind us just how powerful community can be. There's something truly special about people coming together to dance, connect, and share moments bigger than themselves. We're deeply grateful to have been a part of it all ❤️

  • Last week, our co-founder Glenn McElfresh testified at a Nebraska Department of Agriculture public hearing. The state’s proposed rules seek to classify hemp beverages with any amount of THC as "adulterated" - a move that threatens thousands of jobs, local businesses, and adult consumer choice.  Glenn joined an incredible wave of pushback from the Nebraska business community, fighting for fair regulations instead of flat-out prohibition. Thank you to every retailer, wholesaler, manufacturer, and consumer who stood with us on Thursday to make our voices heard. This education is always worthwhile! • The data confirms what we’ve known all along: THC beverages aren't a passing trend - they're a long-term shift in how people are choosing to unwind and socialize!

THC beverages are breaking further into mainstream retail, with sales hitting $239 million as the category scales fast. 🌿📈 New NIQ data shows the segment grew 135% year-over-year across more than 1,170 UPCs and 200 brands, despite limited national distributor adoption and ongoing legislative uncertainty. Liquor stores led the channel mix with $132 million in sales, while convenience grew 194% and 10mg products now command over half of category dollar share. 🛒 Link to the full story in the first comment below 👇 #THCBeverages #CannabisBeverages #BeverageIndustry #RetailTrends #ConvenienceRetail #BevAlc #CPG #FunctionalBeverages

Alcohol is everywhere. Grocery stores. Stadiums. Airports. Work dinners. Weddings. Networking events. Family gatherings. But when low-dose THC drinks enter the conversation, suddenly everyone wants to talk about “risk.” That contradiction is exactly what Todd K. Harris, Co-Founder and CEO of Plift, is challenging. In my interview with Todd, we talked about: → Why THC drinks are not “marijuana in a can” → The hypocrisy of normalizing alcohol while stigmatizing cannabis beverages → How Plift is building a more accessible social drinking option → Why adults are not always replacing alcohol—they’re replacing drinking occasions → What equity actually means in the cannabis and hemp beverage industries One line stuck with me: “Many people don’t drink because they love the taste of alcohol. They drink because they want to feel something.” That is the cultural shift Plift is building around. Not anti-alcohol. Not pro-hype. Pro-options. The future of drinking may not be about what has alcohol in it. It may be about intention. Read the full article on Todd K. Harris, Plift, THC drinks, alcohol hypocrisy, and the myths still holding the category back. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ge3CWPjN #Plift #ToddKHarris #THCDrinks #CannabisBeverages #AlcoholAlternative #HempBeverages #CPG #BlackFounders #FounderStory #FutureOfDrinking Plift

  • We are proud to see our Co-Founder, Todd K. Harris, and the Plift story featured in Kansas City Homes & Style’s dive into the soaring THC-infused beverage category. The "buzz without the booze" isn't just a trend - it’s a shift in how consumers choose to unwind. With 62% of THC beverage buyers being Millennials and a 48% trial rate among consumers aged 25-34, the data is clear: people are looking for a better way to socialize.
